The Writers Guild of America East says the ABC quiz show writers have gone on strike because producer ITV America has refused to abide by some of the terms of the collective bargaining agreement that covers the show. In a statement, ITV America countered that "we began good faith negotiations and proposed a package for the writers that includes generous, over scale pay increases and health benefits through the WGA."

I think ABC's reboot of The Chase will suffer the same fate as the GSN version did because one of the main reasons why GSN's version of The Chase got cancelled was because even though it was a huge success for GSN in ratings it got too expensive to write and produce. If this strike between the writers of The Chase continues I can predict this will happen and the show will not live to see a second season. I cannot figure out how ABC wanted the rights to The Chase when GSN already had the rights to the American version and if the writers want to demand more money they should've known about what was bound to happen. But I think the show's main problem is that ABC is trying to make it a hit show like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was and already has huge ratings. But as I mentioned this will probably cause the show to be cancelled soon

WGA & ITV America Resolve Dispute after Writers’ Strike

ITV America and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) have resolved their dispute concerning ABC game show "The Chase".

This comes as the show is on the brink of being renewed for a second season.

“We are in agreement that fair and positive work practices are essential to our industry and that, especially during the ongoing battle of the pandemic, the priority is to keep production going and to ensure that people can do their work and build sustainable careers,” the WGA East said in a statement.

“We are glad to have come to terms and that the process is completed.”
