Poor kid had no chance. They threw him to the wolves.

He sounded exactly that little Julio's nephew on Sanford and Son. Della is a little funnier on this show than she was on Welcome Back Kotter. She was dry as hell on WBK

Wonder if he got the part because he acted with Sammy Davis before CATM started. Looks like he wasnt just some random kid they chose to add to the show

Yeah totally ! I agree ! I think the show should have just ended under the circumstances ! Because not only did a young person die, but to die by suicide is even more tragic !

It wasn't the poor kid who took Chico's place in the shows fault , it was the terrible circumstances which made things so much worse !

I would have been more interested in seeing Louie's home life instead of a new character on the show in season 4

Yeah. Were the ratings for season 3 so good and the show so profitable that the network felt they had to try to keep it going?

Yeah that had to have helped. I have never seen his Tonight Show appearance. I Wonder if he was promoting Chico And The Man or something else.

I don’t think the ratings were great at that point. I was thinking they renewed it for Season 4 before Freddie passed and before they started filming and they used Gabriel to take Freddie’s spot.

I suppose it could have been renewed before he died. Wikipedia says he died Jan 29, 1977. If the ratings weren’t that great, would they have already renewed it by that point of the season?

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for this series you’ve been hating on these past couple of weeks?

40. It was still some nice surprises like

Mrs roper and felipe making a guest appearance from threes company
The guy who played ed brown having dancing and singing skills
Chico making a reference to sanford and son
Bookman appearance from Good times

Overall the show just wasnt that funny to me but I am glad to finally be able to see it after all these years.
