"Bewitched" Movie in the Works at Sony Pictures
"Bewitched" Movie in the Works at Sony Pictures
by Etan Vlessing March 24, 2021 Sony Pictures is twitching its nose as it orders a movie version of the classic "Bewitched" TV sitcom, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett are conjuring up the script for the movie adaptation. Davis Entertainment is producing via John Davis and John Fox. Sony, which owns the sitcom's rights, attempted TV remakes at CBS in 2011-12 and NBC in 2014 that did not go forward. "Bewitched" was also remade as a 2005 feature film starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ne...-sony-pictures |

Obviously one crappy failure wasn't enough.
Almost no originality in Hollywood. |

I hope this does not happen. The first movie was horrible.

It seems the idea of a "Bewitched" reboot pops up every couple of years and nothing ever comes of it (save for the 2005 movie), so I'm not worried.

I think what killed the film was that it wasn't a real story involving Samantha and Darren, but rather a movie about the PRODUCTION of the show itself. Also, I thought everyone was perfectly cast except Will Farrell as Darren. There is no chemistry between him and Nichole Kidman and it came across very awkward.
If they create a Bewitched movie.....then let's keep it as a story about Samantha and Darren. |

I think Jim Carey would have been a perfect Darrin. Not sure it would have helped the movie but at least Darrin would have been better.

If they ever make a movie about Dick York's life, Jim Carrey should play him. Like Carrey, York was also into metaphysics, painting, sculpture, and New Age stuff, and of course the physical resemblance is there. And York's memoir "The Seesaw Girl and Me" is in the offbeat vein of some of some of Carrey's films like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." |
