Default Like B Positive but how does the story have a long range future?

I am enjoying the series B Positive. It is a Chuck Lorre show and most of them I have enjoyed.

Knowing the story and Lorre’s success record in multiple season shows, where is this going to go in three to five years?

Drew needs a kidney to live. He meets Gina who can give him a kidney. I don’t know how long the process is in the real World but it cannot be that long. Somewhere shortly down the line, Gina has to give up the kidney. There can be stories of Gina being irresponsible due to partying and excess, but early on since she is living in Drew’s home and cares for him as a friend, the operation needs to come shortly. Is the show going to draw this out for several seasons? You can’t really. Again, I don’t know how long it is in real life but in my limited knowledge of there is a suitable doner the process should be done quickly.

So will there be a romance between the two main characters after that? I don’t think we the audience will pay much attention after that. Because the basis of the show has been completed, and really the two are not compatible. I guess they can be, and be forced to be by the writers but this I think will be a negative.

So how does this show go for more than a season or two? And what happens if one of the main characters does an Anna Faris and leaves? This is what killed Mike and Molly (which was hilarious and was cut short when Melissa McCartney wanted out to do films).

The show is fun for a short term but seems like a long term dead end because after the operation we the viewers won’t have that much interest in the characters. This show should last three years tops (and this isn’t a failure, just how long the story plays itself out)

I've watched the show for only the past 2 episodes, and frankly I don't "get" it.
I didn't come here today specifically intending to trash the show, I wanted just to see what other fans were saying about the show, so that I might learn what I must be missing.
But, I couldn't help but to notice that no one has yet responded to any thread here, so the enthusiasm must not be overwhelming?

I can see some (entertainment) potential for rivalry between the ex, and the donor, perhaps with the neurotic guy playing one off the other for whatever short term objective suits him. But just being honest, I doubt this show will be a keeper.

The sole thing that I have found truly humorous out of these past 2 episodes was last night after the ex adopts the cat and is taking a selfie to use in some dating app, and the kidney guy makes the comment "just what every man is looking for, a single woman with a cat.

Made me wonder if I had been overly harsh in my judgement up to that point.

i don't know if networks expect shows to run many seasons. I know that Netflix wants shows that are just going to run a few seasons and then be done with it.

I can see that the guy has more feelings for both women than he should, and that could present some funny situations, perhaps with the daughter being the mature one giving him a shoulder to cry on.

Maybe the donor will get spooked by his "ambitions", and flee to the arms of one of his dialysis buddies, and end up giving them the kidney instead? THAT would teach him a lesson!!

But is that really sit-com material?

Yeah, it would be hard to make this show go on too long because a kidney donor can be approved in as little as a month!

Unless she's turned DOWN for some reason or they say she needs to stay drug and alcohol free for 6 months or a year which is a possibility. But that only extends this one more season.

I haven't watched current shows in years but this show is one I have watched. Not knowing anything about the actors I find the show a bit different. I do agree with past posters that, Yes you do wonder how long the wait for the operation will be. Nice to see Linda Lavin and Bernie Kopell in back ground roles. I did happen to see Tom Middleditch completing on Who wants to be a Millionaire with Jimmy Kimmel a few days ago.
