Watched O&H today ep 3-13 "The Missing Sandwiches". On Monday's aside from My 3 Sons I also watch O&H & Car 54 Where Are You. Today's O&H episode changed my mind on Ozzie. He's just as lazy & sneaky a jerk as his neighbor Thorny, and yes, I include Harriet, at least as far as the sneaky characterization. Watch the episode and you'll see Ozzie try to weasel his way out of helping Harriet, then try to bum a ride using David's car, then try to bum a ride with Thorny, then sneak sandwiches out of the package Harriet gave him to deliver to the women's club (instructing him not to eat any), then tries to sneak off on Ricky's bike (Ricky then charges him for it
something my Dad would have knocked my block off for). When caught breaking into a car by the owner of the car (they thought was it was David's) Ozzie weasels and hems and haws trying to think of more lies to tell. I tell you the whole show everyone was a liar, a cheat, a sneak and lazy. I wonder why they called this the "ideal family"?Well, to watch Ozzie weasel and sneak his way thru another episode, I humbly provide it here for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZhUhhbQZ0I |

What Ozzie and Thorny were really guilty of is being goof-offs and procrastinators. If they hadn’t farted around down in the cellar and had brought the food over right away, they wouldn’t have had the other predicaments. And yes kind of sneaky what Harriet and Mrs. Thornberry did; very manipulative. But boy Thorny & Ozzie were sure lucky they didn’t get their blocks knocked off by the car owner, or worse have gotten caught by a cop. Sneaky fits the gals and lazy the hubbies. Regarding “the ideal” family - the later seasons mirrored that much better. Not really a big fan of most of the early seasons’ eps (S1-S4). I like the seasons where Rick started dating and was beginning to sing on the show. And the later ones where he’s in a frat, David’s working in a law firm & where they’re married. |
