People don't break contracts just so they can "pursue new opportunities". She knew it was a two-year extension when she signed.

Baxter is the only one who I have missed. Violet always came off as a two dimensional angry teen, and never really grew. Roscoe sort of hit that awkward age (which most child stars do) and he really never had anything interesting to do.

Eh they all deserve proper endings, they were a big part of the show early on.

In case anyone is interested, there's an online petition to save the show from cancellation. It's actually doing better than I thought. It's got over 28,000 signatures so far.

I... don't think I'm going to sign. Despite the fact I suspect the show has helped thousands or even millions of addicts, I think it's run its course, and it feels like it has lost its steam. I think maybe it's best for it to wrap up; it had a long, successful run.

Here's a news story about the petition. Mimi confirms on Twitter Mom is canceled and not ending on its own. She said there was a change in ownership of CBS that may have contributed to the cancellation. I'm fine either way if Mom continues or ends. I'm having more fun rewatching shows I used to watch years ago during their first run. It's like a new show again because I either forget what happens next or I'm eager to see the next scene I remember happening.

I am also hoping for a return of Christy, Violet, Roscoe, and Baxter for Mom's final episode. I think the COVID pandemic will make such returns impossible, though. I am also wishing that the current seasons of Mom and NCIS: New Orleans were set at 18 instead of 16 so they could wrap things up properly, because based on the storylines that have already been laid out with the size of the order, I don't think 16 will be enough.

Mom is being forced out of the CBS lineup due to a change in ownership? That's what killed Man with a Plan despite it being owned. Something tells me Mom is heading towards a disappointing series finale, because it and NCIS: NO will have a permanently-unresolved arc or two.

Someone in another thread here stated that Mom will run 18 episodes, and this info was posted by Mimi Kennedy on social media.
