Default Worst OC Premise Ever...

When Felix had Insomnia. He couldn't sleep because his watch hummed???? Was there any person anywhere, EVER, who slept with their watch on??? Just an embarrassment, for an otherwise All-Time Great show.

Wearing a watch to bed intentionally is totally moronic and serves no positive purpose. About as stupid a thing I ever heard.

Lot's of people wear a wristwatch to bed.

Just because you disagree doesn't make it moronic.

What purpose does it serve?

And correction, "lots of people wear a wristwatch to bed" is false.

Dont make **** up.

I also sleep with my watch on when I know I have to work the next day and/or wake up early for something so my ears will perk up at the sound of the alarm. Somehow I don't get too deep a sleep when I sleep with a watch compared to when I don't wear it (knowing I can sleep as deep or as late as I want).

So, no I don't think it's totally preposterous (or moronic) for Felix to have worn a watch to bed but keeping it on instead of tending to its humming wouldn't have been the smartest move!

Yeah, this being the early 70's there definitely wasnt an alarm on his watch. Also the thought that a man sleeps in but one position with his hands under his ears is crazy. Not a big deal. We can put it to bed. Just weak writing with little regard for the intelligence of the audience. But hey, that's 60/70's television for ya....

Cant believe people slept in their watches. Just absolute Stupidity. So I guess the ONLY time it came off was in the shower? I guess I stand corrected but people were dumb.

If 1950's watches had alarms, why wouldn't the '70s?

Have to admit defeat here. I guess alarm-clock radios were not really popular yet? I maintain though that I have not heard anything more stupid than a person that sleeps through the night with a watch strapped to their wrist. Dont care what anyone says.

Early clock-radios go back many decades and obviously were analog. I saw an article that claimed in the 1950s, an estimated 30,000 units PER WEEK were being manufactured...!! So they did gain popularity long before Odd Couple.

The earliest one we my family had was one like you'll see in the film Groundhog Day.
