Default TBS syndication years (question)

I need help from someone that may know the answer to this question. I have been a huge Mamas Family fan since its creation. I watched the revamped show on TBS in the late 80s and early 90s. When the show ended, TBS continued to show Mamas Family, usually 2 episodes back to back at various times over the years. I watched every night. Even at college, I would watch the show. TBS would show them in sequence order from the first 2 NBC seasons and then the 4 years after. Long story short, I saw the episodes a million times through the 1990s.

When the show was picked up by Logo and MeTV, I noticed shows that I was not familiar with. It really confused me because I watched the TBS shows every night for years. Does anyone know why TBS did not air some of these shows. Let me give specific examples:

Aunt Gert Rides Again
Fly Naomi
Grandma USA

These shows were never aired on TBS during their multi year airings of the show. Does anyone know why? I was floored when I saw these shows within the last decade.

I dunno if I can asnwer well, but I do know it was rare to see Aunt Gert Rides Again... I remember taping it from VCR back in like the early 90s when MF ran on FOX, but after that they skipped it, I dunno why.

Also when it ran on TBS once, the skipped over all the Eunice episodes, again I have no idea why unless it was an issue with Carol Burnett.

You are right. The Positive Thinking episode is another one that was never shown. They did show the Wedding episodes though.
Strange.

TBS is the only channel I've seen Mama's Family on and I know all of the first two seasons did air in their cycles. I have them recorded on VHS tapes because those are the ones I like the most from this show. I don't know if all of the Bubba and Iola episodes aired, but I do remember Fly Naomi airing on TBS during one of their cycles.

OMG I was afraid someone was going to say that lol

Seriously, no joke. I watched every night for years and never saw the episodes I mentioned. At least one other poster saw what I saw. Maybe our TBS was censored

Well I only know seasons 1 and 2 aired all the way through on TBS. I'm not sure if seasons 3 - 6 did. Those years were like a Lucy & Ethel show because Mama and Iola took over instead of what the original premise was of Mama's Family. I wasn't really invested once those seasons aired. Also, Mama's Family aired in the mornings. I remember watching it before USA aired their 80's block of The Facts of Life, Gimme A Break, My Two Dads, and Wings. TBS had Saved By The Bell and Mama's Family in the mornings. I'm not sure what else aired on TBS in the mornings besides those two shows.

Back in the day like in the mid 90s, before you could get things on DVD, I was trying to start a VHS collection of Mama's Family, I would set my VCR to record while I was at school and for some reason ALL the Eunice episodes were missing. It really made me mad, b/c I really wanted the 5 episodes in which Eunice appeared, but gone was Cellmates, Positive Thinking, both wedding episodes and Rashomama

Do you mean the 5am airings of Mamas Family on TBS in the early 90s? I was not up much to watch those. I did however watch the nightly ones which aired around 7pm. These were the rerun syndication years, not the fresh airings.
I too was more interested in the first 2 seasons but I watched them religiously through the 90s and knew their order and could repeat lines of each episode.
I've been watching since the 1980s and I saw the Cousin Gert episode for the first time on Logo or Metv several years ago. My interest was peaked and discovered a few more along the way. Many with Carol were removed too.
Carol freaked out on Vicki when the series was picked up and she continued using Carol's ex-husband as producer. In Vicki's book, Carol accused her of taking sides but Vicki just wanted familiarity with the show. They made up a few years later. Not sure if this had anything to do with some Carol episodes not being shown.

I wish there was a logical explanation for this. It could be simple that TBS lost those episodes or someone was sloppy with putting them together. Or maybe there was some dispute or copyright issue that the network pulled some of the shows.

If you recorded them in the late 90s' maybe they started to air them again. My watching stopped during those years.

I don't remember Mama's Family ever airing at 7pm on TBS. I only remember the morning viewings. Maybe TBS Superstation picked certain episodes to air during the evening timeslot then? I remember my evenings around 6 or 7 were watching Alice on TNN As you can tell, I had my lineup of classics I was watching back in the day
