Hmmm Maybe the writers were told not to mention her?

I don’t think she was ever mentioned again. Flo appeared in the final episode via past clips, as the other characters remembered, but even then, they didn’t mention her.

I see Mel appeared on the 1st episode of Flo. Wonder how they explained why he was in Houston

I'm sure they did, Flo worked at the diner almost 10 years.

Things I used to wonder, I wonder if Jolene knew who Flo was. I know someone wrote a fanfic once, it had ALL the characters returning for a reunion during the Jolene years, and Jolene had no idea who Flo was, though she knew Belle somehow.

I guess Linda Lavin wanted everyone to forget about Flo. lol i always found it a bit insulting when a show just forgot about a character. i guess the producers knew fans would miss her so if they still mentioned her then fans wouldn't move on and accept a new character. But in real life sometimes people move away and you lose touch and never see them again.

Hell no. Linda Lavin had to go and mess that history up.

I want to think those truckers that came in still saw Flo on a regular basis. I thought they traveled through Texas to Arizona....also I thought they appeared on Flo sometimes. I always thought it would have been good if they occasionally mentioned her.

It's not uncommon to not mention a character after they left. When Caroline McWilliams left Benson in early season 3 (after having a lovely send-off), the Marcy character was never mentioned again.

They might feel it would make audiences nostalgic for the older days, though on 3's Company they do mention Chrissy once or twice after she left.

That could be. Of note, when Lucille Ball hosted that Three's Company retrospective, Chrissy was prominently featured; like Alice and Flo, T couldn't pretend she didn't exist.
