Yes, since they announced they are only showing the original series from 1962/63, weeknights wouldn't work. Not enough episodes.

In a perfect scenario, the original Jetsons would have ran for four seasons and ended the same time as The Flintstones, after the 1965-66 season.

The Jetsons was part of a sort of breakthrough for ABC that year. It and The Flintstones were a couple of the few shows ABC broadcast in color. The Flintstones transitioned to color that year after being broadcast for two seasons in black and white (even though all the episodes were produced in color).

Probably would have, if ABC hadn't scheduled it against the juggernaut known as The Wonderful World Of Disney in color.

They could eliminate The Powers of Matthew Star and move Saved By The Bell back an hour to 6:00am and effectively free up the 9:00am slot on Sunday mornings for more HB cartoons.

Yes I agree, The Jetsons had an unfavorable spot on the schedule being placed vs. Disney. Maybe it would have been better if ABC had paired up The Flintstones and The Jetsons together on Friday night?

Would of been for the best. Flintstones at 8:00pm and Jetsons 8:30pm. It might have lead to HB being one of the power players of prime time television.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of the H-B shorts end up becoming part of Toon in with Me Weekdays on MeTV, like Quick Draw McGraw, Huckleberry Hound, and such.

For some reason they don't seem to be showing the Speedy/Sylvester era toons. They may have been testing the waters with the newer ones (Speedy/Daffy) from the later 60s. Anyway, with Baba Louie being paired with Quick Draw, I just don't know. (Let me make clear I see no problems with any of the toons we're talking about--I don't think there's anything offensive in them, but I don't live to be offended.) Anyway, I'd really like to see them add the Yogis, Hucks, maybe Quick Draw etc.--all those H-B shorts from the late 50s/early 60s. They would fit perfectly on Toon in with Me and they probably would have the rights to them. Another issue might be the shape they're in--I know the Quick Draws on Boomerang looked pretty rough, quality-wise. |

I don't know if they will. The theatrical toons are a little more edgier. The HB television shorts are very kid friendly in tone, where as the primetime HB programs are for both kids and adults. For instance, in Johnny Quest you would actually see people occasionally get shot or stabbed (minus blood of course).
