I see you finally caught on to that. One Day At A Time and Good Times had a lot of similarities.

I havent checked but I am pretty sure both shows had the same writers

Thelma's older man seemed less creepy to me. Julie's guy, Paul really gave me the creeps! He also seemed condescending and full of himself.
