Default Molly talks about being mistaken for a boy as a kid

In this 2010 lecture, Molly Ringwald talked about her childhood haircut and how she was often mistaken for a boy. There is not one mention of the Facts of Life in this. Even when the woman doing the introduction who went through Molly's career didn't mention The Facts of Life. Which was probably was a condition to her appearance.

Thankfully she didn't turn into Blair Warner in this presentation like she did in her book.

When Molly talked about her sister flipping her long blonde hair, that reminded me of when Blair did that while Molly was taking pictures in "Running".

I wonder why Molly's mother wanted to keep Molly's hair short back then. Imagine how Molly felt when so many people mistook her for a boy.

Yeah, her presentation only had a few name/place drops. It seemed reasonable.

I can see that!

I wondered that, too. Why cut your daughter's hair short if she doesn't want it that way?

Perhaps that is what caused Molly to have that feminist streak.

Here is a picture of Molly and her sister Beth. This was taken in NY during the filming of the Tempest.

One reason is because some parents like the ease of "no fuss, no muss" short "Dorothy Hamill" cuts for their kids.

But did Molly ever tell her parents she wanted long hair when she was little?

But really, short hair suits her. She just looks great with short hair. In the late '80s movie where she's a knocked-up teen she has long hair, and she just doesn't look that good. She really has one of those "short hair faces".

Yes. In the video link, she talks about wanting long hair like her sister so badly that she started wearing a fake ponytail under a stocking.

I think she has grown into her face, and like her "shoulder-length hair" look best.

But did she make that clear to her mother at the time? (I'm only asking 'cause I haven't watched the vid, lol)

Yes, and her mom told her they were keeping it short.

Molly definitely looks better with short hair. Her IMDB profile pic with her having long hair is definitely not her best. It's like John Lawlor photo of him in a wet T-Shirt from the Flash Flood episode.
