The Redd Foxx Comedy Hour (1977)

In 1977, Foxx left Sanford and Son to star in a short-lived ABC variety show Redd Foxx Comedy Hour. I think TV variety shows were nearing their life span in late 70's, thus why show was short lived.

Had Redd Foxx done this show in early 70's, it might had a better chance in longevity. But then again he was mostly unknown to TV audiences before Sanford And Son.

That is the first time I seen that show as it is interesting perspective on Redd Foxx career as TV personality between Sanford And Son and his 1980 TV show Sanford.

He could have easily stayed at NBC doing another season of S&S, but lucrative ABC offer to do his own show might have been too tempting.

Damn, that is a low rating. May be if show was half hour it might have done better rating. I know I lost interest in watching after that middle music number where he played horn went on for too long.

The bits with Don Knots and Dangerfield were kind of funny.

it finished tied with Maude. That was maude last season
