Default "Bud" was quite the actor

I just looked him up. He did a lot of acting before and after the show. Seams like Kitten is the only one that didn't do a lot. That's too bad.

For such a troubled child Lauren was a good little actress--and I don't remember seeing her in any other shows, unlike Bud. She was great at crying on cue. Actually, so was Gray--check out Bud's Graduation.

I think if they had let her she could have done so much more in that show

One of "her" scripts from around season 2 had her trading a doll for a neighbor's real baby. Kind of a silly script, but she really carried it off superbly.

I thought Billy Gray was a real natural actor very funny at times and excellent in subtle moments. I felt Lauren and Elinor over acted and poor Lauren always seemed to have a trauma. She actually had more emotional upheavals than Beaver. I really liked everyone but Betty, too snobby.

I think he was the best of the 3 but he wasn't exactly acting with Emmy-winners. All Kitten did was cry hysterically throughout a lot of episodes. Betty was stuck-up. I thought all 3 kids were pretty awful most of the time.

Wow, you'z guys are all overly harsh here. Betty wasn't stuck up at all she just had good taste. Seems today having values and good taste means either you're an evil bigot or a horrible person because you don't believe in being a bum. Luckily those of us with good taste poo poo that idiot thinking. And Kathy didn't just cry in every episode, that's ridiculous. And Bud wasn't all that bad but I would hardly say he was any better than Betty or Kathy, they were all equal in talent, Betty, of course, a bit more because of her looks alone.

Both Chapin and Gray were good at generating real tears. If the script called for it, they cried.

Betty was snobby at times. Check out Country Cousin from season 4. Again, it's the script, not the character or actor.

I have to agree that Betty had good taste, but she could be stuck up. At least with that football player, she had to tutor. The way she bristled about being stuck with Dooley (I think that was his name) showed how above him she was.

I loved that episode and when he heard his mother reprimand his posture and his clumsiness through Betty he knew Princess wasn’t genuine. She was really a snob and love how Merle got himself a new date who complimented him not criticized him. Great episode especially when Betty started to cry cuz he didn’t need her anymore.

His most famous role was in the day the earth stood still.
