Default Who Should Replace Alex Trebek?

Obviously no one can replace his legacy on Jeopardy! But the show is going on with guest hosts for the rest of the season starting with Ken Jennings, with a permanent host likely named at the start of next season. And Ken Jennings is definitely my first choice, we have already seen him reading entire categories since Ken was added as consulting producer. I think he would be a natural at hosting full time, but he does have so many other gigs like his regular Master Minds panelist role and ABC's version of The Chase starring the Jeopardy! goats. Brad Rutter I could maybe see hosting it, although I see him more as a mean-spirited host if Weakest Link ever got a male host again. James Holzauer I liked as a contestant, but he does not have the personality at all to pull off full time hosting. Bestie mentioned Levar Burton being a possibility, and I agree he would make for a good host. Other celebrities who I think would make natural hosts are Kelsey Grammer and Tom Hanks. If they go with a woman, my top pick would be Sarah from the clue crew. She is already known to the Jeopardy! fanbase and very pretty as well. Mike Richards the executive producer has previous game show hosting experience with GSN's revival of The Pyramid from 2012. Alex Trebek's wife Jean would be a way of literally keeping it in his family, but she might not want the spotlight like her husband had. Names that have been rumored as possible replacements are Anderson Cooper and George S from the news industry. I don't want either of them, they would both make terrible game show hosts. Keep the news and game show genres separate. Ironically I have watched Anderson's New Year's Eve shows since the totally despicable Kathy Griffin was fired from CNN. But that was more of a dislike of ABC's show, and I only turn it on a few minutes before midnight. Unlike the annoying yapping heads on ABC, CNN just has the ball quietly counting down and doesn't break for commercial right before midnight like ABC does. Then they have had a stretch of good uninterrupted songs after midnight has come, including New York, New York. But that is the only time I have any use for Anderson Cooper, no way to him on Jeopardy!

One name that should be considered is Mo Rocca, who does reports on CBS Sunday Morning and is also a panelist on the NPR quiz Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. He has also hosted the National Geography Bee and to me, he would make a great candidate to replace Alex Trebek.

A horrifying thought I just had: lousy actor Dax Shepard has sometimes read entire categories. I can't stand him, he had better not be under consideration. As a TKAA (The Kids Are Alright) fan I naturally hate his Bless This Garbage (Mess) show, as it and Single Parent Losers screwed TKAA out of a renewal because of ABC's deal with garbage creator Liz Meriwether.

How about Bill O'Reilly? With his knowledge in news he could be considered a likeable choice for Jeopardy. Then if Bill O'Reilly wouldn't be picked how about for a female host Robin Meade because she is wonderful talented and a great country singer as well and she could host Jeopardy so good

In the current political climate, it better not be a newscaster. Too many of them have made fools of themselves, and therefore have ZERO credibility.

I wonder if they'll just use the guest host gigs as trials, and just pick one of those people.

I've read some opinion pieces advocating for either Ken Jennings or Betty White.

In order of most realistic:

Chris Harrison (I can't believe he is not hosting the primetime "WWTBAM" Kimmel is terrible!, I wish he would he keep his political views to his late night show)

Marc Summers (He has hosted 3 trivia shows besides "Double Dare." They are "Pick Your Brain", "Win Tuition" and "History IQ")

Brooke Burns (Very underrated host IMO, warm personality, only 42, could help attract a younger viewing audience, would hosting "Masterminds" and "Jeopardy" be too much for her?")

Mark L. Walburg (Loved him on Russian Roulette, would he be able to host "Antiques Roadshow" and "Jeopardy!")

Kennedy (loved her on "Friend or Foe". Her personality might be too strong for this show, could she balance work with FOX Business Channel?)

I can see Ken Jennings becoming a permanent host.

I like Ryan Seacrest I could see him hosting Jeopardy. But between his cohosting Live with Kelly and Ryan, American Idol, and American Top 40 I don't think he'd ever have the time to do it.

Mark Walberg isn't hosting Antiques Roadshow anymore. Now all they have is a woman narrating the show, and you never see her on camera. I don't think they've ever even mentioned her name. I hate it. >

Either George Gray, Doug Davidson, Todd Newton, Chris Harrison or Jeff Probst should takeover for Trebek
