Default A very young Don Defore in a very old movie, "It happened on 5th Ave." 1947!

Don is very young and very cute in this. And to Hazel's delight a lot thinner !

Really cute , fun movie on MOVIES! channel right now. It's only just started and I'm already enjoying it!

This channel reruns a lot , so if you all get a chance, check it out!

Every winter, Michael J. O'Connor, the second richest man in the world, vacates his 5th Avenue mansion for his winter home in warmer climes. Every winter, Aloysius T. McKeever, a homeless man, and his dog moves into vacated mansions. This particular winter, McKeever meets Jim Bullock, an army veteran who has recently been evicted from his apartment and offers to share the mansion with him. It's not long before the mansion has a few more guests, including two of Jim's army buddies and their wives and children; runaway heiress Trudy Connor; her mother and even Michael J. O'Connor, himself. Written by L. Hamre

It's a really good movie. One of those Christmas movies I never see get mentioned very much.

And speaking of movies that don't get mentioned enough, Bonnie, have you seen Apartment For Peggy from 1948? Not a Christmas movie, but set during the winter, and stars Santa himself Edmund Gwenn.

Talking Mr. B, Margie, the Skipper All For Christmas

This was a movie I had never seen till about 10 years ago, a real pleasant surprise it was too. It stars 2 great TV stars, Gale Storm who later became My Little Margie and Mr. B who also first went on to Ozzie & Harriet as the neighbor.

Edmund O'Brien is one of my favorites too, if you really want a great example of Edmund at his best watch him co-star with 2 other great old-timers Spring Byington & the great Charles Coburn in the movie "Louisa". This movie is hilarious and even stars another very special guy. Here's a picture of young Mr. B & Margie & of our stars from Louisa (I hope they popup, I have bad luck trying to post pictures here.)

I didn’t care for this movie, thought it was a clinker—nevertheless Don was great. It was the writing that sucked.

Now a good oldie with him in it, where he’s also great is The Stork Club.

I thought it was really cute ! And it was fun seeing a much younger Don DeFore in a different role than playing Mr. Baxter , bantering with Hazel ! Although I love him as Mr. B too , this was fun !

I will look out for that movie, Torgo ! Another good one that was on right before " It happened on 5th Ave." on MOVIES ! channel today was a Cary Grant movie from 1948 called
"Mr. Blandings builds his dream house " ! That was also very sweet and funny , not a Christmas movie but in that same era and genre !

If you REALLY want to see a nice oldie with Don it watch The Stork Club (1945) — it’s on YT. Betty Hutton is also in it, and I love her. At the very end is a charming interaction between her and Don’s character as she’s singing a song. It starts at 1:35:45
