Looks weird today but back then $5 had the buying power of $26. So that was a lot for a 11 year old boy

Yep! I remember as a kid 5 dollars was a lot ! Getting birthday cards from relatives with money in it, some put 1 dollar, some put 2, that was usual, and even that was cool back than .But I remember sometimes getting a 5 dollar bill and it was like I hit the lottery !

On this very website, a GT Fan said that $5 in 1974 could buy you a Chinese Meal and a Movie Ticket plus popcorn and a drink and you would still have sone change left!
