Default A Demented Dr. Seuss

You might wonder what movie is that? My mom and I are both fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas. She is trying to get my dad to watch it with her, said he doesn't think it at all funny and he said it was like a demented Dr. Seuss.

I saw that movie when it came out because a friend dragged me to see it but for the life of me I can't remember anything about it now. I don't think it made much of an impression on me but maybe i'll give it a watch again if I find it for free on one of the streaming channels. I only remember that I found it kind of weird.

Fantastic film. One of my daughter's favorite movies, and an influence on her art.

Interesting to know that Dr. Seuss hated the film and in his biography there is no mention of it.

I wonder if Geisel’s screenplay was changed.
Dr. T was definitely an odd duck of a movie for the early 1950s. I’m surprised it was even filmed.

I was actually talking about A Nightmare Before Christmas.

But that is interesting about Seuss and Dr. T

I remember Svengoolie went into depth with that when he showed The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T a couple years ago. I remember him saying that they deleted nine of the 20 musical numbers and altered much of the story and Dr. Seuss was understandably angered by it. He felt that they'd watered it down (Columbia) to more of a kids' movie, which wasn't what he was intending for it to be at all. After that, he decided to ditch live action and only focus on his animated specials like How The Grinch Stole Christmas. I thought all this was very interesting, and it would be very interesting to see what the original 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T was going to be like. And I totally agree with you on The Dungeon Song.

And I also think that The Nightmare Before Christmas seemed like something Dr. Seuss might've made or written. Some of the scenery is very Seuss-like, but Tim Burton was the producer. I wonder what a Tim Burton-Dr. Seuss collaboration would've looked like lol.

I agree with you and your mom; in fact, I believe it's a classic, now.

It's a strange movie, period.
