Sad Eddie Van Halen (1955-2020)

https://www.kxxv.com/entertainment/l...dies-at-age-65

Legendary rocker Eddie Van Halen has died at the age of 65 according to his son who posted on social media Tuesday.

“I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning,” the statement from Wolfgang Van Halen reads.

The elder Van Halen had been battling throat cancer for over a decade.

“He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss. I love you so much, Pop,” his son’s statement reads.

Eddie Van Halen, along with his brother Alex on drums, bassist Mark Stone, and singer David Lee Roth, founded the band Van Halen.

Oh no ! It is true!! I was just texting with my cousin and she told me she had heard that Eddie died, but wasn't sure if it was a rumor or not!? We were so hoping it wasn't true!

How sad! Wow, Poor Wolfie, his Son and I know Valerie is upset! Wow, really sad and shocking! May he RIP!!

I just heard the breaking news about it a few minutes ago or so. We really shouldn't be that surprised though. If I'm not mistaken, he was still married to Valerie Bertinelli when he had his first cancer scare.

Nevertheless, I'm also going to play the first Van Halen album on my PC. But I'm also going to play the Austin & Ally episode "Deejays & Demos" on iTunes, because there's a scene where some guy in his 80's tries to buy an electric guitar that looks like something Eddie used to play, and he plays it just like Eddie.

I read that he had been secretly battling throat cancer for the previous five years.

Sad

I saw Van Halen open for Black Sabbath in 1978. The show was AMAZING!! The founders of heavy metal were in fact floundering in comparison to the energy of Van Halen. They were a new band with their phenomenal debut album. Everyone HAD to learn the song "Eruption". This short track, probably not even two minutes in length, revolutionized guitar in ways not seen since Hendrix.

This was the only time I ever got to see them. I could have seen them on the Monsters Of Rock tour with Metallica, Dokken, and The Scorpions, but I sold my ticket, unfortunately. But that moment in 1978 gave me hope as to what music could be, as rock and music was pretty boring. My life was boring, and rock and roll in the form of Black Sabbath, KISS, Rush, Blue Oyster Cult, and Ted Nugent were all really exciting in the face of disco and radio-friendly pop rock. I had this relentless energy, hyperactive, always seeking something more. And Van Halen came out and had that passion and energy I was looking for.

Maybe this tragedy was just something to get me inspired to sit down and play guitar some more. To pick up on that dream I had in my teens.

I read that his wife, his brother Alex, former wife Valerie Bertinelli, and his son Wolfgang were all with him when he died. I'm not a Van Halen fan but Eddie Van Halen was a great guitarist. May he rest in peace.

Next to Ozzy Osbourne Sammy Hagar Eddie Money and all the other rock stars Eddie Van Halen was the king and when you listened to his songs you could feel his energy he put in his songs. Perhaps the first time I heard Van Halen was their song Jump from the classic 1984 album and that album was such a giant hit that almost everyone had a copy of it. Van Halen's song Right Now was also featured in the debut commercial for Crystal Pepsi in 1993 and I think that song was a huge seller for Crystal Pepsi and sold a lot of it. Eddie Van Halen was truly a rock legend and shall be missed

Is Wolfgang the baby on the Van Halen 1984 album? Because when I would see that album in stores I often wondered who's baby they used
