Default What was the last truly good sitcom?

I'd say either Frasier or Friends both of which left the air in 2004. Sure, you had some other sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother and Modern Family but I feel as if sitcoms have fallen off ever since Friends and Frasier left in 2004. Fans went crazy when Friends ended in 2004. Has a sitcom ever generated that kind of response since? Friends is the last truly good sitcom in my opinion.

I loved Friends and The Big Bang Theory. I think Mom is great, and it's currently still airing.

Both Friends and Frasier ended in 2004. Since then the number of good sitcoms that have come along have been remarkably few. The number of great ones is even rarer. The only ones I would consider to be great are "Two and A Half Men", "The Big Bang Theory", and "Young Sheldon". Others like "Mom", "Modern Family", "Will and Grace", "How I Met Your Mother", and "The Conners" are good but not even close enough to achieve greatness! Most of the rest are simply terrible!

I'd say Cheers which went off the air around 1993. I consider it one of the last sitcoms that can truly be called a classic. Maybe the last one.

As far as the thread title implies, to me it's the first 5 seasons of Modern Family.

CNN is still pretty good for a laugh, if you ask me.

I've never loved a new sitcom since Frasier and Friends ended, until Mom was released.
That filled a void!

Yeah! I spent several years without watching any sitcoms at all. Mom was the first one I felt comfortable with in years. LOVE it! (And hate the idea of Christy being gone).

The Middle. I thought it was very solid from beginning to end.

Excellent point, but it's not a sitcom.

What are your opinions on shows like Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Roseanne, Friends , and Frasier? All good sitcoms that either ran during Cheers' run or shortly after

The King of Queens also ran from 1998 to 2007, and that was very good, as well.

King of Queens was good, Friends and Mike & Molly were good recent Sitcoms!

I have always loved classic television, I thought I would never love any today shows but than came the middle with Patricia Heaton & Neil Flynn & Charlie McDermott & Eden Sher & Atticus Shaffer!

The Middle is by far the best US sitcom that has premiered since the 21st century started. Only 21st century sitcom that has been better is Corner Gas which comes from Canada. The snobbish critics though sure liked looking down on The Middle and gushing over its far inferior counterpart from the same year Modern Family.
