I saw the Reba Complete Series today in Walmart for just $29.96!! I was shocked!!
![]() On Amazon it's going for $59.99 so when I bought my copies, I ordered them from E bay and got 3 seasons used and the others new and paid in total $36.87 which isn't that bad either since it comes out to just $6.14/season. But I wish I saw this $29 copy at Walmart before I bought mine because it would've been nice to have the whole series in one neat little case, not to mention the 7 bucks I would've saved. |

I didn't. Season 6 is my least favorite because they repeated a story that was done to death previous seasons. I would have preferred they made the main story of season 6 a follow up to the season 5 finale. I'm glad it ended when it did since they didn't have a lot of creativity that last season.

Watched 3 episodes tonight. Was supposed to watch 4 but got behind on things.
![]() 1. "Who Killed Brock?"----It was ok, but definitely not a favorite. I think the whole story was silly and a little boring and the ending seen coming a mile away and a little too abrupt. I did make notice how Reba & Cheyenne both referred to BJ's dog as an "it" while Van & BJ referred the dog as "she". We know who the animal lovers and haters here are. ![]() 2. "The Pageant of Grandmas"----I hated BJ in this one. Oh my God what a selfish bitch she was going on and on how she wanted to be in the pageant and win it. Jake wanted his Mom to be in the pageant and Cheyenne even said it was his idea to even have the pageant just so Reba can be in it because he thought she was the prettiest Grandma. I get that BJ probably wasn't aware of this, but Reba did mention to her how Jake wanted this without going into specifics. Bj should've put the child's needs before her own. She acted silly, immature and selfish and I wanted so bad for Reba to tell her this was for the child and not her. Grow the hell up! Yes, Jake did wind up saying he wanted BJ in it but it doesn't matter to me because he originally wanted Reba and the whole idea was made with Reba in mind. And selfish BJ stole that. She really grated on my nerves in this one that I have to use valentina's hammer on her. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 3. "Reba's Rules of Real Estate"----This was a good one and I like Dolly Parton--but that woman's plastic surgery is a big distraction for me. I just couldn't take my eyes off her face and feel pity on what she did to it. I mean, she's not hideous---but she's not natural either. She looks like a living wax figure and it was hard to stay in the story wondering all the work she did to it. ![]() I'm surprised she didn't sing and would've liked to have seen her play a singer in a bar or something. Maybe the singer in Reba didn't want to be upstaged on her own show? ![]() The final 4 episodes of the season I watch tomorrow!! I can't believe next weekend is season 5 already. This is why I like to only watch on weekends----to make it last longer. ![]()

I usually like BJ (except when she acts like a complete buffoon). She really should've put the child's feelings before her own and this only made her look immature and selfish. The woman is in her 30's and acts like she's 13. I know it's a sitcom, but she's a sad character and seems to be regressing rather than growing. |

I know there's something to do with Cheyenne and alcohol coming and i'm curious to see what happens there. If they take a heavy dramatic route next season, i'm conflicted about that. On one hand, I love dramatic episodes, but on the other Reba isn't that kind of show imo. It's light and happy. So if they get too heavy handed with that, I may not enjoy it. Next week I start season 5 so i'll know soon enough. Quote:
I won't finish the series for another month, and I don't want to keep anyone from discussing things till then!

Don’t dread the upcoming episodes. You may end up liking them. I just don’t find them as strong as the early seasons. Cheyenne’s drinking is a good story. Van is my favorite part of it.

![]() I heard earlier in this thread Reba sings 9 to 5 and this was the episode, but I wish she had sang the whole thing instead of a bitty part of it. The end scene was funny when Van & Cheyenne sang in the living room and Reba brought down the divider to the kitchen. I flipped over the disc for the last 3 episodes to watch later and see the finale is titled "Hello, my name is Cheyenne"....I guess she's already in AA by then? Damn that's quick!!

Go Far---Jake playing football. Now I see why they always have that kid just run upstairs to his room after saying a few lines. I was bored with this one. Best to leave that kid in the background. ![]() Help Wanted---Van works for Reba as her assistant was good. A fun episode, but not a standout. Then the end comes out of nowhere when Reba finds an empty liquor bottle suspecting it's his....but it's Cheyenne's! ![]() "Hello, My Name is Cheyenne"---Ok, I have to be honest and say this was a terrible episode. So much cringe!! For one, having Van actually GO to an AA meeting to appease Reba when he's covering for Cheyenne was silly. And how everyone crowded at BJ's for drinks so Cheyenne couldn't see them almost seemed like they were mocking the whole issue. It was weird and so cringy. Now to Cheyenne....she has ONE bottle of Schnapps (LOL) that took 2 months to finish.....and she's an alcoholic?! GMAB!! Then the final scene where she pours herself a glass of wine and tells Reba when she drinks did NOT sound like an alcoholic to me. It sounded like a normal adult who had a couple of drinks now and then to calm down with all the stress of school and being a mom and Van moving to Denver. And NO ONE has seen her drunk. She was at a martini bar a few episodes earlier stone sober. To do this type of story successfully, you need a few episodes to build it up. A half season story arc that cumulated in the season finale would've been much more effective storytelling for a subject like this. As it was, it felt like a tacked on finale just to have a cliffhanger and imo it failed miserably. Alcoholism is a serious subject and should be treated as such. I feel Reba treated it in a mocking and frivolous manner. I bet in the season 5 opener they'll have Cheyenne finished with her 12 step program and we'll never hear about it again. I hope you're right Lorimar and season 5 is better. I hated the beginning and end of this season. The opener with Brock/BJ fighting and closing with the fake drinking problem. This show fails when they try going too deep and should stick to the lighthearted fare imo. Oh well---i'll start season 5 next Saturday.

When you say Van is your favorite part of it, do you mean where he went to the AA meeting by himself to cover for her? I thought it was so silly that he would actually go to one when he didn't have a problem. To make this story work, we needed to see Cheyenne slipping drinks for a few episodes, and be drunk around the family. I don't expect a Lifetime movie of the week, but more time was needed to build up this kind of story imo. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a whole story arc in the next season...but damn....it all just came out of nowhere. |

As it was told in the finale, Cheyenne took 2 months to finish a bottle of Schnapps. Reba found her in the Martini Bar doing Karaoke, yet she clearly wasn't drinking. From what she told Reba, she really was just having a couple of glasses here and there to ease her stress. (btw the exact same was shown as Reba and the gang was in BJ's house but perfectly normal behavior for them.) Her character wasn't being depicted as a problem drinker. People who drink to the point where it's a problem is always noticeable to others. Here she is having a couple of glasses here and there and she's shipped off to AA meetings. It was poor storytelling imo and needed to be unfolded more gradually and it should've been a bottle of Scotch or Vodka in her closet rather than Schnapps for heavens sake. ![]() If they wanted to convey the character as an alcoholic, they should have written her as one. Two months to finish a bottle of Schnapps doesn't warrant a trip to AA meetings. Also, she's been doing well in school, driving herself back and forth with no issue and taking care of her child as well. A couple of drinks here and there is perfectly normal. They should've had her stumble home drunk one day to show that her drinking has escalated to the point of being a problem but they didn't...so it comes off as a tacked on at the last minute season finale just to have a dramatic cliffhanger and a story as serious as that deserves more in depth and gradual unfolding. Granted, it's a light hearted and bubbleheaded sitcom so I perhaps i'm expecting too much from it. On the other hand, I think they're out of their league with such a heavy handed story. But I will keep an open mind for next season---though I have to admit, part of me is dreading it because I have a feeling this story is going to annoy the hell out of me.
