Default Complete Series DVD release

I saw a "Father Knows Best" Complete Series DVD set at Walmart today for $59.99 and won't be able to buy it until next week. But when I went home and checked Amazon there was no listing of it.

Then I did a Google search and again, nothing comes up for it. I specifically looked at the back of the box to ensure it has Closed Captions and it had the CC logo, and I also saw the year said 2020. So it's definitely a recent release this year.

But why is it not showing up in any other shopping places?! Even on the Walmart website it's not showing up. There was 1 copy on the shelf and i'm going back next week to hide it so I can get it next week when I have the money.

I just find it baffling that this seems to be a legitimate release but it's nowhere on the internet---as if it doesn't exist.

But for $59.99 for the whole series I have to go back and get that...maybe it's the only copy of the Complete Series in existence.

Yes it has been re-issued as a complete series set, here is an ebay listing which includes pictures of the item:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/203059073795

I'm curious to know if the 1st season was corrected to contain all unedited episodes but I don't see any mention of that on the box so I'm assuming this new release is just a repackaged re-issue of the previously released season sets.

Thanks for that link. It seems that e bay listing is the only place on the whole internet that's offering it for sale. Even Walmart's website where I saw it today doesn't show it for sale on their website. It's so weird.

It looks like it's a legitimate release with the SHOUT company as the distributor and for $59.95 seems like a steal considering separate seasons go for over $20 each. (and that e bay listing is $87.90! Yikes!) I just hope that one copy I saw today at Walmart is still there when I go back on Thursday to hide it until next week when I can buy it.

Thanks again for the link. The pictures in that listing really help too because I forgot to check which studio was distributing it when I was in the store.

They SHOULD have used the opportunity to correct season 1.

Do I think they did? No.

Darn, I would have bought one this summer. I got 1-4 for about $10 each, but 5&6 are like $30 each, so I haven't bought them.

Are the rest of the seasons unedited?

Exclamation Buy it when you see it or else

Last week I saw the same thing and was just as shocked. I was both happy and mad, as I already bought each of the seasons when they came out and spent a fortune doing so. Now for a fraction I could get them all. Well, on the other side I wouldn't have been able to watch the whole series a couple years ago if I had waited till now. Sure took a long time for it to happen, by the way.

Now I think the person who saw this now has made a mistake I've made more times than I like to remind myself, that is- seeing something unbelievable and then passing it by till "the next time I come back". What always happens is the next time you come back it's long gone. So good luck, if it's not gone already I'd make a bee line back to Walmart NOW.

Now you're making me nervous it will be gone when I go back.

The good thing is that they're not open 24 hrs these days and close at 7pm. So that helps to keep people away from it. I can buy it next Wednesday so I plan on going back on Thursday morning and will hide that one copy behind a bunch of other dvds so I can snag it next week.

Hopefully that will work. I was so shocked to see it today and at that low 59.99 price because I could never afford the separate seasons they're so darn expensive. I wish I didn't have my credit card maxed out or I would've got it today.

Lol Hillary's Favorite Store with all us smelly deplorables is The Place To Be

You know this is not the first time Walmart has come out with a multiple season set of a TV series that only they and they alone carry. I bought the Dukes of Hazzard complete series (it was divided into two sets) but the complete seasons were in a single plastic holder not divided up into a bundle of al the single season releases. Also Walmart came out with the COMPLETE Lost In Space about 2 years ago for only $20!!! Once again I already paid thru the nose for the single seasons when they first were released but I couldn't resist such a bargain and bought one set for my nephews who recently discovered Lost In Space. Walmart also came out with multiple season sets of Gunsmoke all in a single plastic holder for several years that weren't available anywhere else at the time.

By the way, I've done the same thing, that is trying to hide a valuable DVD set so that I can find it "next time I come back". Sometimes that works, but you're still relying on luck.

Yes, seasons 2-6 have unedited episodes. Season 1 is messed up with several edited episodes and it appears that hasn't been corrected with this new release.

You're welcome, glad to be of help. I don't need this new release because I bought the individual seasons when those were released. If they would have fixed season 1 to have all unedited episodes I'd be interested but it appears the error wasn't corrected.

That's odd that Walmart would be the only seller but I swear it's not available for sale anywhere I look online except for that ebay link (and they probably got it at Walmart and jacked the price up).

I did actually see Lost in Space on the shelf too as well as the complete Hogan's Heroes set. I wanted to buy that too and was so upset I couldn't.

If the FKB is gone after I go back even after hiding it, i'll try and ask if they can order one for me in the store. The set isn't even showing on their website.

Heck, it's not even showing for sale on the Shout Factory website either. It's so strange. Maybe this is exclusively sold inside Walmart stores. I never seen that before.

Cool Hope They Go Back to Carrying A Lot More DVDs after Wuhan

That's it, Walmart has some sort of exclusive deal with many of these complete or in Gunsmoke's case near complete TV series sets. Those Dukes of Hazzard sets weren''t available elsewhere either in those handy all in 2 sets.

Unfortunately, my Walmart since this Wuhan Virus started up is carrying a lot less DVDs than they used to. They used to carry a lot more. All the more reason I was surprised when I saw that Father Knows Best set.

That second ebay link is a better price. I bet people are buying them from Walmart and selling them for more on ebay. All the more reason to snag that copy quickly before an ebay-er gets it to make a profit.

I think it's great of Walmart to sell these but making it exclusively theirs can make it more difficult to get if they're the only place you can get them. But that $59.99 price is so great. With 203 episodes it's just under .30 cents per episode!

Hopefully if I miss this copy I can either visit another location or have the manager order another one for me. This is a series i've wanted for a long time but the cost of each season was just too much.

I'll come back and update if I snag it!

The rest of the seasons are complete episodes, except for one episode in season 5, which is a "flashback", recut episode.

For most of the episodes they located the 35mm masters, probably provided by the Robert Young estate.
