I was watching this a.m. with the Aunt Martha and the "short pants" thing....June seems to adore this woman, and says she's the closest thing to a mother and spent a lotta time with her...
Why? Where the heck were her parents? I also remember June talking about being sent to boarding school - so was it ever mentioned what her parents did for a living, and why they left her with that draconian but well meaning (?) aunt? Seems like June comes from a "snooty" family as well... |

Good question!
Even though I heard of an episode where Ward supposedly mentioned something about having interacted with June's parents, I think it's more likely than not that they died when June was still a child but left behind enough monies to keep her boarding schools. Oddly enough, Aunt Martha never talked about them (her brother and sister-in-law) but DID bring up another brother who had died young. |

Maybe this is like the Walton's were Olivia's family is seldom mentioned and then it doesn't all add up when they do talk about them.
Maybe only men's sides of the family were important? |

I only remember when visiting the Cleavers, Aunt Martha mentioned to Ward about (I think) her brother who dated a French girl. Later Ward and June were talking about it and Ward asked her what was wrong with a French girl. And June said when you're a Bronson, that's enough.

As I recall June’s mother was around as she wanted her to take drama lessons and got her a part in a play as Cleopatra. She wasn’t very good. Ward says how he would call June on the phone and Mrs. Bronson would say “June Evelyn is out for the evening.” June had an uncle who was almost a genius and a grandfather who was a judge.
That’s right Olivia Walton hardly ever mentioned her mother or father but in the episode when she gets menopause she goes to see her aunt. Even in Dust Bowl Cousins they’re Waltons. Cousin Cora Walton, her no account husband and son, Job. CoraBeth Godsey was also a Walton. Waltons All Around. |

I didn't know Cora Beth was a Walton. I remember she married Ike Godsey but didn't remember her name before that.

She arrived out of the blue from Doe Hill to say her mama had died and had no one. She basically moved into John Boy’s room. She was, I think, John’s cousin as grandpa called her cousin Corabeth. They tried to get her married off to Ike who took a fancy to her. Ellen Corby and Ronnie Edwards (Corabeth) did not get along.
