Whitney Cummings on Chris D'Elia's Alleged Harassment of Underage Girls: "I'm Devastated and Enraged"

Whitney Cummings has broken her silence on her "Whitney" sitcom co-star Chris D’Elia‘s alleged pattern of predatory behavior aimed at young fans and underage girls.

Twitter user Simone Rossi on June 16 shared screenshots of emails she exchanged with D’Elia in July 2014 and January 2015, when she was 16 years old. D’Elia during the exchanges requested a photo of Simone, and also asked if they could hang/”make out” during a stand-up tour stop in Tempe, Ariz.

Other young women have since come forward via multiple forums to share similar stories of being “groomed” and preyed on by the comedian/actor, some while underage at the time.

Cummings tweeted out a statement on Saturday:

"It's taken me a couple of days to process the information I have learned about Chris. I'm devastated and enraged by what I've read and learned. This is a pattern of predatory behavior. This abuse of power is enabled by silence. Now that I'm aware, I won't be silent.

Girls should be able to be fan of a comedian they admire without becoming a sexual target. It's the adult's responsibility to be an adult."

Should Whitney Cummings address the Bryan Callen sexual misconduct allegations?

"It’s been four days since the Bryan Callen allegations hit, and still Whitney Cummings has said nothing," says Kristy Puchko. "Whitney Cummings is a comedian who has palled around personally and professionally with two stand-ups who have recently been accused of sexual misconduct, alleged groomer Chris D’Elia and alleged rapist Bryan Callen. When the first’s allegations came out, Cummings, who had co-starred with D’Elia on her sitcom Whitney, denounced his predatory behavior with a tweet." As Puchko notes, the Los Angeles Times story on Callen mentioned that Cummings declined to comment for the article, which quoted her as describing on his podcast an incident when he exposed his genitals to her without her consent. While Cummings has been silent about Callen, she has been posting a lot on social media the past few days.
