Default Sequel series in the works

https://tvline.com/2020/08/04/whos-t...alyssa-milano/

I don’t like that this implies that Tony and Angela aren’t together. And if they’re not, then what is Samantha doing in Angela’s house? I wish they’d leave this alone.

I have to agree with you, TV Guy. Reboots tend to pale in comparison to and detract from their originals. While this one might've bucked that trend 10-20 years ago, I can't see this show without Mona and especially Angela.

Does anyone see anything that even resembles an original thought here:

"The new take “will explore generational differences, as well as opposing world views and parenting styles"

Sony is shopping this reboot, hopefully the potential buyers will be practitioners of caveat emptor staying far away from this trainwreck.

I'm all for this if Tony and Alyssa are involved. They better get Judith involved cause I'd be so bummed if Tony/Angela weren't together. That's a pretty easy way to write them (both actors) right there.

I’d watch if it popped up on something I already have, but I wouldn’t subscribe to anything I don’t have just for it.

When I saw this I thought...Sam single parent Living at home with Tony and Angela.

Duh!

They are not creative enough. They have to do this with every reboot but at least say that Tony and Angela are married because if not and we have to invest again to wait and see...BIG INSULT. This will be just as bad as what they did with Coach as they had killed off Shelly Fabares character and Luther was nowhere...well, I didn’t follow that one originally, but I read reviews that while taping the pilot the crew of the Coach reboot a few years ago were told it wasn’t going ahead. If they mess this one up I could see the same...

Tony Danza said a little while back there’s no more Mona, so it would never happen as she needs to be there. If they have Angela and Tony divorced, separated, or never married after the series finale of the original that will be a shark jumper.

If they get Angela and Jonathan, and it's on a streaming service I get, I'll tune in. I wish them luck.

I'm just worried it's going to be a vehicle for Alyssa's political views. I just can't see how she'd be involved otherwise, because that's all she's about these days.

The one good thing about Sony being involved is that Sony has said that whoever buys it will have full licensing rights of the entire series, so... if nothing else, *maybe* this could be a chance to get our full series on dvd finally.

I agree with this. I loved this show, I wanted to be like Samantha, thought she was the coolest girl. I respect that actors, celebrities, people have political views, but she definitely has established herself recently as more of a social media politics advocate and now when I see her, that is all I think about with her.

I am almost certain that will be a central part of her character in the reboot because it was a big hit with Roseanne being a Trump supporter/republican. I know she was later fired but that wasn't for her character being a republican but for stuff she said outside of the show. If they made Tony a an old school Italian republican it would be a great source of tension on the show, but I doubt they'd do that.

Yeah I don't get how that would happen. If Tony and Angela broke up (and never got married) then Tony would have 0% stake in that house. Even if they did get married and he got 50%, in most cases the couple would sell the house and split the $ to whatever % they (or rather, their lawyers) agreed on.

It would be more plausible that Jonathan inherited the house as her son. You know what that would be a great way to write him into the show, he lives in the apt they built for Mona and he is resentful she got the house

Especially since Judith was a powerhouse actor on that show, some of the greatest/most memorable scenes involved her. It would be like rebooting The Cosby Show without Phylicia Rashad, why bother?!

No news on the reboot in over a year except some sources saying Alyssa is demanding stuff and Tony is bored by his character. If Judith is not there or they never married who the heck cares?!

Tony will be all “Angela is taking a long vacation, mourning the loss of her mother.” I can totally see them saying some crap like that...
