A good question. Indeed, he was portrayed as a dipsh#t on many occasions. An excellent example: Mike in The ep The Games Bunkers Play.

I liked the scene in AITF where Archie eats spaghetti out of the can in the kitchen, rejecting Frank Lorenzo's cooking. Lorenzo should've known that the type of stuff he favors could get a "cold" reaction...! (pun intended).
This type of stuff is what the series was based on -- culture clashes, things outside the norm, interpersonal reactions with people of differing backgrounds & education levels... It seemed like Mike & Gloria could have fun together, like going to Marx Bros. movies, but the marriage didn't prove solid. |
