Default Favorite era for television and film?

What decade is your favorite era for television and film? And names some of your favorites from your preferred decade/era.

I'd say the 1960-70s for both television and film combined. It is really hard for me to narrow it down to one decade. The 1940s-1950s were also a great time period for films. If I add music to the mix I would say entertainment in general: TV, movies and music combined, peaked and was at it's best during the 1960s- early 1980s.

Early to mid sixties for television. The Fugitive, the Invaders, Gunsmoke, Combat, 12 o'clock high, Route 66

For Movies, the Late 40's and early 50's film noir The Narrow Margin, Pickup on South Street, The Killing, Thieves Highway, I am a fugitive from a chain gang, Born Yesterday, and Face in the crowd

Personally, my favorite decade/era for television and film is the 80s.

So many great shows like:

Dynasty
Dallas
Falcon Crest
Knots Landing
Highway To Heaven
The Facts Of Life
The Golden Girls
227
The Cosby Show
Amen
Who's The Boss
Family Ties
Diff'rent Strokes
Magnum PI
Cagney and Lacey
Fame
The Love Boat
The Jeffersons

I felt that daytime soap operas, like General Hospital, One Life To Life, All My Children, The Edge Of Night, etc were at their best in the 80s.

Television Mini-Series were the best:

North & South
Elvis & Me
Lace
Hollywood Wives
V
The Atlantic Child Murders
I'll Take Manhattan
Bare Essence
The Women Of Brewster Place

Some favorite movies/cinema are:

Top Gun
Gremlins
Fatal Attraction
The Color Purple
Coming To America
Purple Rain
The Last Dragon
The Breakfast Club
The Lost Boys
Micki & Maude
A Soldier's Story
Superman II
Urban Cowboy
An Officer And A Gentleman
All The Friday The 13th Movies
I could go on

I feel that your choices, for the time period that you specify, are all good ones.

Except one that seems a mystery to me. The Breakfast club. I appreciate that we all have our own preferences.....but that selection in particular, has always seemed an oddity to me. Some people love it.

And I have one question in particular, did you personally go to high school at about the same time that you first saw that movie? Nothing "wrong" either way. But that one factor seems to be a constant among those I've talked to, who seem to like it. Just curious.

1950-early 1990's. Old Tv shows are wonderful!!. Can't get into anything in this century.

No. I wasn't in high school. I was in elementary school.

TV was at its best in the 90s, thanks in large part to NBC and its comedy shows. Many 50s-70s shows, while funny, are just silly and don't hold up too well. Many 90s sitcoms still are funny to this day

As for movies, I'd say 50s-70s
