Hey, I'm currently watching the Reba DVDs and got to wondering. Has anybody noticed some similarities in some of the episodes from stuff that happen in the I Love Lucy episodes?
For instence the episode "The Wall" in season 2 Reba is worried that Elizabeth won't be able to sleep without her blanket because she was staying over at Van's parents for the night. So, Reba and Barbara Jean try to climb a wall to return it to her. I think Lucy and Ethel did the same thing in the I Love Lucy episode "The Tour" when Lucy was trying to get a grape fruit off somones tree (Can't think of his name). So, she to climbs over the wall like Reba but, Lucy falls over the other side and gets stuck. Also, in a couple first season episodes I notice Reba and Cheyanne do the spider face thing that Lucy used to do. I can't think of what episodes they where but, it sounded similer. Also, a few times I think Reba did some of the crying things that Lucy used to do. It wasn't a full out waaa but, Reba did do her share of crying on the show and I think Chayanne did to in one episode. Did they use I Love Lucy to get ideas for storylines or scenes in the show? I know Lucille Ball and Reba are both redheads. Did anybody else ever notice anymore similarities between Reba and I Love Lucy? Please let me know. Thanks. |

Yeah people have said Reba has some similarities to Lucy, I agree. Reba also goes "eugggh" like Lucy.

Well Reba is certainly a fine comedienne but she's not Lucy - who was a genius with physical comedy. On the other hand, Lucy coundn't sing (well at least). So they're each great in their own way and similar in that both were/are beauties & redheads!

) it will be interesting to see. I remember seeing her here & there out of comedy roles & I was never impressed. Not that she was awful mind you just not stellar - like the way she was with comedy. For years she struggled as a serious actress and was even known as the Queen of the Grade B movies. But I don't fault her. She was persevering, not afraid of challenges and plugged away at practically everything. I blame the directors and producers --WHY didn't they see her flair for comedy. But Lucy will always be near and dear in my heart for breaking into a new medium sight unseen and trailblazing so magnificently. I Love Lucy is still watched by millions and millions - nearly 60 yrs. later. And NOBODY - and I mean NOBODY - could touch Lucy when it came to physical comedy (well maybe Gilda Radner God Rest Her Soul who was so funny that only she & Lucy could make me laugh so hard that either my ribs ached or I ended up wetting myself LOL). So...you given me the impetus to watch the Long Long Trailer tonight...and if I'm wrong I'll be glad to admit it. And if I am, well...it'll be just one more reason to love Lucy. |

Just (finally) got around to seeing this. It's nice but I'm so used to "Ricky & Lucy" in the series that its hard to really take them in in another context. The movie is enjoyable but not like I Love Lucy (except for the VERY FUNNY bit where Lucy gets all the food dumped on her by the weaving trailer...NOBODY does physical comedy like her God love her). Yes, Lucy does sing repectably (not steller though) - to my ear she sounded off tune on one of the lines. I must say though, she is an EXCELLENT whistler. Never heard her do this in I.L.L. (best that I can remember anyways)
Also, Lucy had killer legs...she was a chorus girl and model at one time...I thought she put Betty Grable's to shame. Since we're on the Reba bd it would be unfair of me not to say something about Reba. I got into Reba more from the show than bec. of her music (I'm not big into country/western but I never say never). What I HOPE Reba does is do some type of dramatic movie. I think she has it in her. She's wonderful on the screen!!! And as funny (and pretty!) as Reba is *(and she is!!!! ) she can't top Lucy (imho no one living today can).

I've never watched I Love Lucy and so I can't say if the two ladies have any similarities. I do know that the first DVD of this show says that this show is like the next Roseanne. To me, this show blows way past Roseanne. The lady who played Lori Anne was like the cherry on top. It was a shame that she was only a part of seven episodes.
God bless you and her always!!! Holly |
