The Drew Carey Show sucks, one of the worst long-running shows from the 90s. And streaming is so overhyped, many people still prefer to watch TV the traditional way on an actual TV station.

Idk, many people stream shows now instead of watching it live. The article from Variety said that Laff was only getting around 220,000 viewers regularly (much less than Bounce and Grit) and Laff seems to be pretty much on autopilot now. You may think The Drew Carey Show sucks, and I am not a fan of it either, but it was certainly popular for Laff to pick up the rights to. Now if Laff would add more shows, it would be a different story, they only have 6 shows right now. They have more shows that they did air than they do air and they have only been on the air five years.

Why would someone prefer to watch traditional tv with commercials, when they can stream a show, pick what episode they want to watch, and skip commercials?

Getting away from St. Jude and law suit commercials make the 12 bucks I pay a month to stream Hulu/Netflix worth it. If you get a Roku, you can stream just about every show on Antenna tv for free.

Under one service like Hulu or Netflix and just a couple bucks a month, it was easier to stream your favorite sitcom. Now, with multiple streaming services and funds limited, it becomes a chore that also puts a strain on the old wallet.

Plus, it's just easier to turn on the set after a hard day and mute the obnoxious commercials. Also, with censorship becoming worse, it is smarter to use that money and start a DVD collection. It is only going to get worse. Already, you will never be able to watch shows like The Dukes of Hazard or The Rebel on broadcast or streaming ever again.
If
Eventually, shows like The Beverly Hillbillies and movies like Gone With The Wind will be met with the new age ban hammer.

I know I'm a minority, but I have Hulu Plus without ads and in it's library, there are classics like I Love Lucy and Mary Tyler Moore. However, I never use my Hulu subscription to watch those shows, but actually enjoy watching I Love Lucy at 9am on Decades, and sometimes tune into MTM in the afternoon with Decades. It's nice as background and I like the Decades daytime lineup. So, I actually agree that linear can be enjoyable and it showscases content I'd otherwise pass over. But I guess it depends on the show. I don't think I'd like watching a show like Scandal with commercials on Bounce when I can watch on Hulu. That is a show that I binge-watched but would be odd tuning to a random episode on Bounce now.

That being said, I think Weigel is smart and they have some exclusives on Decades, MeTV and Heroes. For example, it has Petticoat Junction and airs multiple seasons of it. As far as I know, Petticoat Junction streaming is limited to only Season one.

I've noticed some services like Philly BTV not having the rights for MeTV and Decades. I suspect that there is a retransmission cost for these over the air networks owned by Weigel. Some providers like Verizon Fios decide to pass on Decades, and Philly BTV which is free won't carry it unless it becomes a paid service. But in exchange, Weigel runs its digit nets with better content since it's paying more for content.

Laff seems like its on auto-pilot and selection is somewhat lackluster. Maybe it'd be better if it added movies (comedies) to its schedule and limited sitcoms to just the weekday morning/early afternoon. I think it used to air movies but they disappeared.

Laff still shows movies, but they tend to show the same ones over and over again.

Laff is getting a new show starting September 6th, and a thread about it will be coming.

What a lousy addition. 4 hours of Home Improvement is better than 4 minutes of this awful show (announced on their Facebook page). Hopefully it will just replace World's Funniest Videos which no one would miss, and not get Night Court removed.

World's Funniest Videos would be nice to see removed.
