Probably because Cindy was just gossiping and Marcia was actually bringing Greg's actions to her parents attention for his own good. She was genuinely worried about Greg. She wasn't gossiping about him or trying to get him in trouble.

I agree that they were two very different ballgames. Cindy tattled on her brothers and sister simply because she enjoyed getting them in trouble and hearing them get yelled at. Marcia really did care about Greg's health and safety. This is why Mr. and Mrs. Brady were not mad at Marcia for telling.

Carol did give permission for Cindy to tattle as to where the missing letter went as Alice said she has to know! Cindy had trouble knowing when and when not to "tattle" It was a learning experience for her.

I would think most people would have a hard time with that. You make a conversation about something but somehow get the person in trouble.
