CBS Home Entertainment will be releasing Life With Lucy on October 8, 2019. I always knew it would make it to DVD.

Interesting news but I'll have to think about it if I want to order it or not. 14 episodes in the series so I imagine it'll probably be a two disc set with seven episodes each.

This will be an interesting one to order. I've never seen it, and I've always heard it's not the greatest. But it's her swan song, more or less, and Gale Gordon's, too.
I hope it'll be reasonably priced. Also I'm betting it'll be another MOD title. I also wonder if there's any music in this one. If so, look for edits. |

Mystery solved about the 14th episode, it's a Christmas themed episode that was scripted but not filmed/produced. Found this information in a Wikipedia article. So yes there are 13 episodes which likely means the DVD set will have 7 episodes on one disc and 6 on the other. ABC aired only 8 episodes, the other 5 were left unaired.

The way I learned of this release was from the Facebook page of TVshowsondvd.com. But they say so little about it, there's not much to go on.

Thanks! They've always been reliable. But it sure isn't anywhere else that I can find.

Sad she didn’t choose to go out on a high wave. The producers tried to create another masterpiece like I Love Lucy. In and of itself, Life With Lucy was leaden. But for us die hard fans seeing Lucy in anything was still great. I’d want the DVD set for nostalgic purposes alone. I just loved the old gal.
I felt bad for Lucy. The awful reviews really upset her. Sometimes in TV the best thing is to rest on your laurels. And there will probably NEVER EVER be a show as iconic as I Love Lucy. (Well, AITF maybe.) |

The style of slapstick comedy Ball was known for was outdated when this show came out. I could see her being one of The Golden Girls or something like that, not doing the same stunts and antics at 75.

Here's Lucy was a commercial success but it should have raised red flags with respect to doing another series a dozen years later. Forget Life With Lucy, Here's Lucy was so dated it plays more like a show from the 50's than the 70's. By the time the 1980's arrived TV comedy series played differently, no longer star driven, series now worked with ensemble casts so having stronger supporting players was a must. That didn't happen here. Lucy's core audience, like Lucy herself, was older, they had lived long lives, they had watched shows like All In The Family , Mary Tyler Moore viewed prime time soaps, they wanted something that reflected where they now were in life. It was an accident you could see coming from her last series.
