Default Question about shows that were on in two decades

What decade would you say a show belongs to if it extends to another decade?

For example, "The Jeffersons" was on from 1975-1985. Would you consider this show a 70s show?

Or "The Facts Of Life," which began in 1979-1988? Would you consider this show a 70s show or 80s show?

Also, "Dallas" was on from 1978-1991?

It depends on the show in question, technically you could consider them as being from either decade. But with "The Jeffersons" I would consider it a 70's show as it seems to be defined by 70's morals (in terms of writing and the tone of the show) and production values. "FOL" and "Dallas" both aired the majority of their runs in the 1980's though and I would personally consider them 80's shows.

I look at it like this... I consider myself a 90's kid, though I was born in 1985, since most of my childhood memories are from the 90's. I don't really have any personal connection with the 80's.

"The Brady Bunch" debuted in 1969, so I consider that a 70's show as most of its years were in the 70's. "The Sopranos" debuted in 1999 and I say it's a 2000's show. This would also apply to "The Facts of Life" being 1979.

For shows that had a decent amount of eps. in both decades, I would say it should go by when its popularity took off and had the most viewers tuning in.

Facts of Life had only four shows aired in 1979. It is definitely not a 70s show. It should only be considered an 80s show.

But the tone of the "The Jeffersons" from 1980-1985 was in the 80s and felt like the 80s. I would consider "The Jeffersons" to be a 70s/80s show.

Only four shows? I agree. "The Facts of Life" definitely represents the 80s.

What about "The Love Boat?" It ran from 1977-1986.

And what about "Different Strokes?" It ran from 1978-1986.

Beverly Hillbillies ran from 1962-1971 yet in the final season, it was very much a 70s show, as it was influenced by All In The Family.

How about The Simpsons? That one has ran for 3 decades. A 90s show. 1990- present It should have stayed in the 90s.

And it was a huge mistake doing that. I cringe when trying to watch that last season. Max Baer Jr (Jethro) must not of care to much for the new direction either, since you barely see him show up in the last few episodes.

I watch the Hillbillies to see Jethro dress up as a double knot spy, or Granny smoking crawdads and boxing with giant jack rabbits. They could of left the social issue crap for AITF

Agreed! They should of took a cue from Seinfeld and called it quits before the curtain fell on the decade.

What do The Donna Reed Show, Perry Mason, Gunsmoke & The Original Twilight Zone have in common? These 4 shows are part of the 1960s era

Ironside & Adam 12 are basically 1970s shows because it both of them started in the late 1960s on NBC

Cheers, The Cosby Show & Falcon Crest are 100% 1980s shows

Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Three’s Company and Charlie’s Angels are a part of the 1970s

The FOL question is silly since it started in the summer of 79
