Default Allison of "A Baby in the House".

I just saw the episode of "A Baby in the House" where for Eastland student Allison returns with her new baby.

The funny thing is that the 3 season 1 hold over girls all know her well and she never met Jo, so she would have attended Eastland in Season 1, yet I don't recall ever seeing her there or her name even mentioned as an invisible student like Nina or Keggy. Surely if she was so good friends with the girls, we would have seen her or heard her name.

It's possible that Allison was mostly around the dorm during the September-February 1979 period when FOL was off the air.

Yeah, it would have been cool for us to have seen a girl we actually saw at the dorm. But that's TV for ya....

They should have had Helen Hunt return as Emily (and name the baby something else).

But Emily was using pot in Season 1, presumably while she would have been pregnant with... not-Emily Emily.

Use Nancy and have the little darling be the offspring of her and Roger.

Nancy O. was to appear on a few more episodes. She was still a student at Eastland.

They could have said she had the baby between seasons 2 and 3 and dropped out.

The bad part about potentially using Nancy is that we would have seen her in just one episode during Season 3, instead of in two episodes. However, the good part would have been seeing her in a major role that season. And it definitely would have given the episode more emotional resonance with viewers who had seen her previously: here is a girl we've seen for three seasons, Nancy, and she's not going to be graduating from Eastland because she and Roger made some mistakes.

Nancy O being the teenage mother could have been more realistic as a teen parent struggling to make ends meet. Not many teen mothers like Allison had their parents buy her a condo as a wedding present.

I am surprised that her parents didn't hire a babysitter to give Allison a break here and there or Allison's mother would like to have spent time with her new granddaughter more.

TV Fun Fact: The actress who played Allison, Heather Kerr, would go on to play a teenage Eunice in a flashback episode of "Mama's Family" in syndication several years later. And she was absolutely fantastic as a teenage Eunice, getting down Carol's speech and mannerisms.

Maybe they felt like the condo support was enough. Or maybe even with Grandma's visits, "Alli-kins" was still overwhelmed. That's a lot of pressure for a young girl.

'80s, what's the name of this episode?

Heather Kerr is one of the actresses who recently accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment; such a shame to hear of a FOL actress, even one who did only one episode, being treated so poorly by a powerful man in Hollywood.

Molly mentioned being sexually harrassed too. She said one incident happened when she was 13, which would have been at the time of the taping of The Tempest.

"Sins of the Mother"

Season 4, episode 20

November 13, 1987

I can just picture the show giving her videotapes of earlier Eunice appearances or of " The Family" sketches from The Carol Burnett Show to study. Or maybe she just knew it well enough from her own personal TV viewing and won the audition with no contest.
