Default I Won't Watch This Episode Again.

In the stag party episode that just aired, Don and his friends were all unlikable drunks.

I have not seen the episode you reference. And although not an avid watcher of the series in reruns, I seldom missed an episode back when first run. And my personal take on Donald Hollinger was always that he was just a little too antiseptic to be believed. Sort of the ideal "non-threat" that every father would hope his daughter would link up with.

So, the prospect of seeing him as an obnoxious drunk, both surprises and intrigues me.

Alcohol is basically a blight on our society, imo. We'd be far better off without it.

I had my drinking days long ago, and it's amazing how the stuff makes the user feel brilliant, at the expense of everyone around them. Now I just shake my head whenever witnessing someone drink themselves stupid.

I think there is a Dunning-Kruger effect of some sort going on there for most drunks. You need to have a certain level of intelligence to understand what "dumb" actually is.

I thought the stag party episode was funny. Wasn't Mr. Marie nice to Donald in this episode? A lot of these 60's tv shows have a lot of drinking in them. I think Bewitched used real alcohol.

I dunno, doesn’t seem so bad that they got plastered this once. It’s not like he drank like that all the time.

I totally liked the surprise toward the end where Ann’s father came out of the cake. What a hoot!

I really adore the show, and it’s often a must see for me when it airs at noon on Antenna.

I watched that episode. I didn't mind Donald getting drunk, but I thought the end with Ann's father in drag was just bizarre.

I never saw the series before, but I've been watching episodes here and there. Donald is one of those people, he can be incredibly nice or really in your face and opinionated. It's tough to date those people. Also, Ann has her head in the clouds and is ditzy half the time.

The entire series is weird to me. She's supposed to be an independent woman, and she falls to pieces when there is a mouse in her apartment.

Donald's appearance changed so much from Season 1 to Season 5 it's just odd.

Me too. The vibe of the show is strange. Marlo was cute, but the boyfriend had all the appeal of a wet noodle. They had zero chemistry and the jokes just don't land like they should. It was almost like the producers/writers were too scared to let the show really be funny or sexy.

When it first came out I was 12-13 and didn’t like it all that much then. NOW I love it! So I totally agree with you; it’s a sweet charming show!

I love this show and I've always had a crush on Donald! He rarely got drunk, and it didn't bother me this one time.

As a little girl I wanted a boyfriend just like Donald, he was good looking , nice and so sweet to Ann! Now watching again, I still would like a boyfriend like Donald !

I haven't seen this episode , or I haven't seen it in years! I can't imagine what could be so bad about it ? And yeah, you are right Donald didn't get drunk all the time, it was only this one ep.and it went with the storyline, a bachelor party ! I don't see what could be so wrong with that ?

Thumbs up THat Girl and That Boy Were Perfect For Each Other

Yes, this is one series I watched when it was first on when I was a kid and I still love it today. I watch it on DVD and it's been a couple years since I saw it last and I'm really looking forward to start watching it again as soon as one of the series I'm currently watching runs out.

As for the drunk episode, it didn't bother me, but I don't drink and get drunk. Maybe to others who have personal experience with this it wouldn't be so funny.

Now I don't know if this is the same exact drunk Donald episode, but one of the funniest scenes I remember from the show is when there's a drunk at a party in Ann's apt. dancing on the table with a lampshade on his head. Donald's had enough and pulls the lampshade off the guy and it turns out to be Ann's father who's the clown. Totally out of character for Lou and that's what made it even funnier.

Talking Lou loses himself

I don't remember the episode name or where it is in the series, otherwise I'd tell you. I'd like to see that again myself.
