Default Opening credits/ End credits

I wondered how they did the opening credits? Was it a kaleidoscope?
How did they do it?

I never understood what they had to do with the show. Did Uncle Bill have a secret stash of gems somewhere? Maybe that’s how he could afford that apartment.

I read where the kalediscope of gems represented "Family Jewels" when conveyed the message of being precious.

At least some of the reason for the Kaleidoscope was because color was new to network shows at the time and this was a way to showcase or promote color.

Looks like a 6 faceted Multivision lense filter, where both the original object and the lense are being rotated.

Here is the general idea

Huh, very interesting. Never knew such thingamabobs existed. I used to have one of those kaleidoscope's you held up to your eye and turned the lens at the front to make the objects inside fall around in different patterns. I thought that that's what we were looking at on Fam Affair, but I'm sure you're right.

They use the same effect in many shows to simulate mental dysfunction, like if somebody gets hit over the head, or is on drugs, or hung over.

I think they even did something like this on Gilligan's island where the cast aways are trying to make a band of headhunters feel "outnumbered".

Here you go....spin the lens and you'd get the same effect.
