Default How does “Wheel of Fortune” keep going?

Wheel began in the 1970s and Pat and Vanna have worked together for almost 40 years. Why does it remain so popular?

Since it's debut in the 70's with Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford Wheel Of Fortune has continued to be popular with fans all over the world and when Pat Sajak and Vanna White debuted the syndicated version in 1982 Wheel Of Fortune took off like a rocket and hasn't stopped spreading like wildfire since. And here's some reasons why,
Is it?
A. The excitement
B. The chance to win cash and prizes
C. Lots of fabulous puzzles to solve
D. The thrilling gameplay
E. All of the above
If you say your answer choice is E you are thinking correctly and with lots of changes added to every season of Wheel Of Fortune it helps keep the show successful in ratings. Not to mention the countless Wheel Of Fortune merchandise that sells like hotcakes ranging from tablet apps board games and Nintendo games based on Wheel Of Fortune help keep the show on it's feet. Because like it's syndicated partner Jeopardy Wheel Of Fortune is an example of how a long running game show continues to retain the same formula that will never get tired and just as a restaurant chef improves his recipe Wheel Of Fortune always has come up with new ideas for improving the show and that's why Wheel Of Fortune remains such a hit in syndication and all around the world. The only way Wheel Of Fortune will end is if Pat Sajak decides in the future to retire or Vanna White chooses also to retire in the near future. But no matter the outcome Wheel Of Fortune will still remain a game show favorite of fans everywhere

It's still a very simple game the home viewer can play along with. The theme weeks also keep the show fresh such as the Boston week that was previously rerun.

Don't know. I liked the show, but it was never one of my top favorites. I have no idea why it was so popular in the first place. Maybe it was because they didn't yuk things up so much, like on the Goodson game shows. It's interesting, as The Price Is Right failed twice in the 80s and 90s at taking down the nighttime version, but TPIR was #1 in daytime over WoF. Hard to explain.

To me, “Wheel” has an easygoing feel while managing to move at a quick pace. The contestants are also not showboats like on “LMAD” or “TPIR”. That makes it good TV for people who are looking to unwind at the end of the day.

It also helps that it is paired with Jeopardy in most markets.

Fact: Wheel of Fortune debut 45 years ago and it stayed on Daytime Television for over 15 years, but since debuting on syndication, it has wiped the floor with most Game Shows on syndication during the 80's and 90's

also, props to Merv Griffin for making a deal with King World to distribute both the syndicated versions of Wheel & JEOPARDY! as well as 1 season wonders in Headline Chasers and 2 summer Game Shows on abc in Super JEOPARDY! and Monopoly

King World also gave us Oprah, Rachael Ray, American Journal, Inside Edition and Hollywood Squares with Tom Bergeron

The Only Main Thing for Wheel keep going is the first 13 years in syndication before the electronic puzzle board came intact starting in 1997.

One of my brothers, who hates the show, calls it "Wheel Of Torture".

Yeah I remember watching Wheel Of Fortune when Chuck Woolery was still the host back in the 70s when I was a kid.
