Wow, they sure chose the perfect episode to go out with bang. This was a rough one.
What those sisters have had to endure is heartbreaking. I'm going to probably need to watch this again (and all of them) to really process everything. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see this one getting closure. Not unless the mother and her ex-husband some how turn on each other but there doesn't seem to be any plausible scenario where that could happen given what they each know about the other. They'd both go away for life. I'd imagine because they had success burning her husband and scattering the ashes and pieces so widely that they probably did the same thing with Lena. |

Words cannot express how emotionally invested I was in this episode. By the end, I was SO ANGRY that I was weeping for Brandi and her sister. How could you do this to your daughters? Your flesh and blood???? I still can't believe how bad the "mother" (calling her that is sickening) killed her daughter, her soon to be ex-husband, threaten Brandi with a gun, and actually had the daughters go along with it every step of the way ripping down her MISSING posters. What a truly sick woman. Sociopath. Murderer. Sandy Krup. I am a pacifist, but for her I would make an exception. |

This article is worth a read. She wasn't officially reported as missing for years. This was as gut-wrenching an episode of true crime as I have ever seen. So much pain and strife. I've only watched episodes 2 and 6 so far but the police work is pretty shoddy, in the classic UM tradition. I enjoy the format. I think a narrator would make it too much like Dateline, etc., and there is no replacing Stack. |

This was the best one of the set and was a gut wrenching story. Sandy's a real piece of work, isn't she?

I feel for the family, as this is tragic, but this is one of those cases that I really wish didn't make it on UM, as it's pretty obvious what happened and who did it, and felt like there were other cases that had more of an "unsolved mystery" angle that could have been profiled. Reminded me more of a 48 hours or Dateline mystery, where we obviously know who did it from the start, but just don't have the body or proof. A lot of those shows I can't make it through, because it really isn't a "mystery" to me.

Any resolution to this case will be because of Colter. He's going to be of age someday. Even if he was brainwashed, he'll be curious enough to do research about his past.

Wasn't Colter just a baby when his mom disappeared?

I can see your point. Tragic. The looking for the remains at the end felt totally unnecessary. That reminded of disappeared. The tale was gripping though to say the least |

He was just a baby when Lena disappeared in 2003. That would make Colter roughly around 17 years of age today, maybe 18.
This was a difficult case to watch. The five sisters said they want to make sure they tell Colter when he's old enough what his grandmother did to his mother. But after being raised pretty much his whole life by Sandy and most likely being spoon fed many lies about his aunts, his loyalty will remain with his grandmother. Sadly, we've seen other examples like this throughout the years and the end result is never what we want it to be. Wendy Camp's son Jonathan chose not to believe that his grandmother and great-grandmother killed his mother and sister. He went in complete denial because he didn't want to believe the woman who had raised him was capable of such a despicable thing. Then when Beverly Noe was arrested, it completely shattered him and today, according to Wendy's sister, he's a bedridden drug addict. Another sad example is Gilbert Ortiz's son, Jonathan. When Elizabeth was arrested for the attempted murder of Gilbert, he couldn't face the reality of what his mother had done. And since she was the only parent he knew, his loyalty remained with her and it completely destroyed his life. He's had multiple incidents of assault against his father, he joined a gang and he's been in and out of prison ever since. Colter is now going to be in just such a situation. He's eventually going to have to believe the woman who raised him killed his mother or choose to live in ignorance. One path is going to be much easier for him to accept. And we know which one that is. |

But Colter has been raised by Sandy for about 95% of his life. Lies have long since been probably pounded in his head. And he's been raised by a woman who is not above killing her own daughter to get what she wants. The odds are stacked against him. I'm afraid to hear how his story is going to turn out. |

5/6 episodes could be considered the best of the set, I think this for me was though. So gripping, great interviews by all involved. The girls especially, so strong considering all their mother put them through.
