to see if there is a complete series release. i dont want to start buying the individual seasons and then the complete set comes out. I mean if Flo is out on DVD I wanna believe Alice is going to eventually get a complete set

I would be surprise if Alice had a complete series set. Night Court has been complete with individual releases for years now and it never received a complete series set by Warner. The only reason Flo has a complete set is because it's 29 episodes for the whole series. That's easier to do than a show with 202 episodes. You also have to remember Alice is not a huge hit like some of the older shows. Fans are lucky the show is complete at all.

I meant for syndication. It doesn’t have the fan base like other older shows do to this day. Also, spinoffs do not have anything to do with a show’s success or not. There’s a lot of successful shows that don’t have spinoffs.

I was always a little surprised by its lack of success in syndication. Maybe it’s because CBS tired it out by running it a lot on weekday mornings in the late 70s/early 80s, or maybe it’s because it was more of a time slot hit (airing after “The Jeffersons”). When it finally turned up in syndication in Boston, it was shown once a week on Sunday night, never stripped five days a week in the afternoon/early evening like the other successful sitcoms of the era.

I think the lack of success in syndication has more to do with the lack of quality the show produced in the post Flo years than anything else. They were already redoing episodes from the first 4 seasons in season 5. That should have been a sign to end the show since the creativity was gone once Flo left. |

Be glad they didn't screw up the episodes like they did with some of the Night Court episodes. One of Night Court's hour long episodes is split in two parts with no closing credits on the first part and no opening credits on the second part. They were so lazy that they couldn't keep the episode as a whole when putting it on DVD. Warner Archives is not a great company when it comes to DVD releases.
I know you like special features with DVD releases, but at least the episodes appear to be uncut with the Alice releases. That's worth it compared to the hatchet jobs syndication does on the show. |

I agree but only if they finish the series. I'm still waiting for seasons 3 and 4 of Small Wonder. I read they also screwed up the Rhoda DVDs having edited episodes on the season 1 set. They also made fans wait years for the final season to be released. Other than that, they did a great job with The Facts of Life, Maude, All in The Family, and The Jeffersons.

Been waiting for a complete series, as well. Ah, well. The first four seasons are priority for me. I purchased the final episode from Prime Video, so I have that one.
