Default REBA DVD

I finally started watching the Reba dvds that came a couple of weeks ago and finished the first 4 episodes and really enjoy it...there's so many LOL moments but...this show is so short!!!

Just when i'm getting into the episode it's over lol. I checked the time counter with the remote and it clocked in at 20 minutes....21 while the credits rolled! That's unusually short for a sitcom...are these unedited episodes?

Hahaha nope any show after 1998 is around 21 mins! You’re used to pre 90s shows that are 24 mins!

I figured i'd only have time for a couple of episodes this evening and wound up watching FOUR because they were so short lol. I guess it'll make me run through the series all the more quickly now.

Perhaps the shorter time is a plus in a way because all the episodes I watched were tight and no "laggy" parts so they make the most of those 21 minutes. I haven't seen this show in over 10 years and it's nice to revisit it.

One spoiler you can share...I thought Barbara Jean was Reba's neighbor and lived next door? Does that come later or did I dream that?! I love how Reba deals with her like a happy little puppy that won't go away.

And the jokes are funny!....When Barbara Jean tries to tell Reba that "BJ is short for--" Reba cuts her off and says insultingly "I know what BJ is short for"----MEOW!!!

I remember loving that love/hate relationship they had with each other.

Haha yep it def helps tighten the pace. You’re correct BJ does move closer but not yet

Haha yep BJ was quite the nickname. Wait til Lori Ann (Rebas friend recurring through early seasons) meets her!

It's been no long I forgot who Lori Ann is and even when I watched it when it was on syndication, i'm sure I didn't catch the whole series, just a few episodes here and there at dinnertime. This had to be around the 2008-2010 years...ancient history I know.

Oh and it was nice to see Nell Carter playing the counselor!! She pretty much looked the same from her GAB days! I've got so much dvd's to watch so i'm going to squeeze Reba in every Saturday night with 4 episodes and should take me about 7 months to complete.

Haha awesome! Yes it was nice to see Nell. She was actually going to appear again in mid season two but passed away before she could.

I'm half through season 1 now and just finished episode 12. I don't think I like Lori Ann---she seems to be a mean, bitter bitch lol. But I do like Park Overall from her Empty Nest days as Laverne, so I won't hate her too much....but that Lori Ann is something...so bitter and angry!

And nice to see Dorothy Lyman from Mama's Family playing Reba's mother...but I see she was only 8 years older than Reba in real life! I guess she used the same makeup artist Vicki Lawrence used on Mama's Family to age her.

Aw I like Lori Ann. Well she’s only in S1 and one Ep of s2 like a certain needlebutt so you won’t put up with her too long. I kinda like her she puts cheating Brock in his place. Haha yep I agree Dorothy prob got the old lady treatment mama did.

Maybe i'll warm up to her as the season goes on. In the first 2 episodes i've seen her, she comes off like a man hater and proud of how she took her ex husbands to the cleaners when she divorced them. I like the actress though.

My favorite are the scenes with Barbara Jean and Reba together. Barbara Jean steals the scenes she's in and it's fun to watch...and OMG she had the nerve to ask Reba to be her Matron of Honor lol...and then calls Reba's mother Mom to boot. What nerve!

I know she's supposed to be so dense and naive that she's doing it all innocently, but calling Reba's mother Mom doesn't even make sense since even after marrying Brock, there's still no family relation with Reba's mother lol.

I wonder if they got rid of Lori Ann in season 2 to focus more on Reba & BJ?...I hope so because I think they're the best part of the show.

Yes they did! BJ and Rebas relationship really blooms starting in s2 and gets tighter as the show goes on.

I watched the wedding episode and couldn't believe the gall of BJ in this episode. I get that she's this naive innocent buffoon, but to want Reba at her wedding to her husband she just got divorced from after 20 years is really asking too much!

She has the audacity to come to her home in her wedding dress too and again asks Reba to come to the wedding. How sick is that?! I was hoping Reba would've punched her lights out!

And she tells Reba's kids to call her "Mama BJ"---this is all way too much!! What kind of woman IS this?!....She's the person who took this woman's husband away and expects her to be her best friend and her children to call her "Mama"....it's so twisted.

And when BJ wanted Reba's blessing for the wedding (again, too much!) she not once apologized for any pain she inflicted onto Reba and her family. Had she done that I could've accepted her better. But she's so dense she doesn't even see Reba's pain. I would've liked a scene where she told Reba that she knows the pain she caused and asked forgiveness and to be friends.

That would've been realistic and made BJ more human rather than the idiotic buffoon she is. I still like the character, but they're not really making her human here---she's a bit too cartoonish. Hopefully she evolves more as the series progresses.

I still hate Lori Ann....she's too mean, angry and bitter and i'm glad she's gone after this season. She was great as LaVerne in Empty Nest, but here, she's just hateful.

I loved the end scene in the episode where Reba dated the bad kisser. After Reba left saying she felt nothing from the kiss, in walks Julia Duffy to tell Peter Scolari that she "felt it"....that was really cute since their characters were married to each other on Newhart.

Instead of leaving after saying that, she should've kissed him instead!

Yeah BJ def oversteps a lot but she does apologize eventually. I think in s3. BJ becomes a lot more normal by season 2 when they get a new show runner and they do away with her big hair and calling her BJ.

Lori Ann appears once in s2 as well but that’s it.

Haha that was a great moment reuniting Julia and Peter.

I finished with season 1 tonight!

Finally both women popped out their babies. I think having 2 characters on a sitcom pregnant at the same time is a bit much and glad that's over with.

I'm looking forward to see how they all get on in season 2. All together they certainly make a unique family. I notice Reba is warming up more to Barbara Jean by seasons end---but she's a bigger person than me---in that situation I don't think i'd be able to do that!

I can't wait to see how that relationship evolves.

On to season 2.....
