I haven’t see this on The Office board so I put it here for discussion.
I just finished watching Space Force on Netflix and really enjoyed it. Good show and hope they do a second season soon. I am at Episode 10 but haven’t finished it. What do see the same or different between General Mark Laird and Michael Scott. Differences. Laird is much more intelligent than Scott. He is much more capable of leading people and not personally getting into their lives for the most part. Has a teenage daughter and is a father which Scott was not (until the last episode). One could see Laird being a four star General, he deserved it. He is more of a competent man thrusted into a position of a position of incompetence (in real life, I think the Space Force is asinine and initially thought this was just something silly Trump thought of), rather than an incompetent man in a position of competence (although Dunder Mifflin turned into an incompetent company) The Same. When both men was mad or aggravated. About the same. Loud, halting tones of frustration. Both are capable of making bad and stupid impulsive decisions. Both make silly decisions under pressure. But Laird is much smarter than Scott and has achieved his position through merit rather than being lucky. I know the series didn’t want this, but I wish there were someone from The Office on this show. But I can totally see why they didn’t go that route. If there is a Season 2, get Rainn Wilson on it, or Creed Bratton, or other actors from The Office as civilians. I liked it, your thoughts? |
