Read about it here. Long and short of it-- the U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear Dale Eaton's case. Eaton was convicted of murdering Lisa Marie Kimmell, aka "Lil Miss" after her personalized license plates.
Prosecutors in Wyoming have announced they will ask the court to reimpose the death penalty on Eaton. Fun aside: The article also lists ten cases from MT that were profiled on "Unsolved Mysteries." It includes two of my "hometown murders," which I'm sure sparked the attorney/prosecutor/true crime lover in me. Those of you with a keen eye will be able to figure it out, I'm sure... |

I've heard investigators in some other cases were hoping that a reimposed death penalty against Eaton might get him to talk about other cases he may be involved in. One of those he is suspected in was Amy Wroe Bechtel, which is another UM case. |

Put a lot of those cases together and you have one heck of a "best of" episode. |

I never considered the Montana relation to UM. Wow, yet another reason why it's far and away my favorite state (like I needed any more convincing!).

Montana and Washington seems like they had the most cases featured on UM. I hope they continue to seek the death penalty in this case until Eaton starts confessing to other murders that he committed. Amy Bechtel is one that many believe Eaton to be responsible for.

great news. this guy is a serial violent criminal. he was captured during an attempt to abduct a young couple and their child in Wyoming (years after Lisa and while her case was still unsolved). The husband and wife were able to take Dale's gun away from him and held him until police arrested him.
As Cars and Todd Mueller pointed out about Amy, Dale's own brother put him at the scene of Amy Wroe Bechtel's last known whereabouts. to my knowledge the investigators were never able to substantiate that claim. Dale's brother claims that their family often spent time in the burnt gulch mountain area where Amy was conducting her marathon training. Investigators were still locked on Steve Bechtel as the prime suspect when there may have been a window to investigate Eaton. Of all of the cases that are still unsolved in that East Wash/Montana/Wyoming region, which one's are the most mysterious? and which ones do you think you will see solved? I always thought that Dexter Stefanek's murderer had a distinct vehicle description and hoped that would lead to a suspect. I also really hoped for Amy Bechtel's case to be solved, but unfortunately I don't see that happening unless Dale were indeed the murderer and he confesses. |

For some reason, I thought Eaton was already dead. Obviously not.
