Default What's your favorite Miss Mahoney hairstyle? (a.k.a. "The Perm Poll")

We all think Miss Mahoney had a god-awful perm in those first 4 episodes, but if you stop and notice, you'll see that she actually had 3 different hairstyles on the show.

All perms, sure, but different degrees of perms.

So, which is your favorite of Miss Mahoney's hairstyles?

1 - the "perm helmet" ("Rough Housing" - very matronly and 1800s-looking)

2 - the "light socket perm" (both "Like Mother, Like Daughter" and "The Return of Mr. Garrett" - very...well...just-stuck-her-finger-in-a-light-socket-looking)

3 - the "relaxed perm" ("I.Q." - more relaxed and manageable-looking)

Such flattering photos!

Great poll!

After the "fright wig" looks in the first three episodes, the relaxed perm from "IQ" seems so reasonable. I mean, it's a decent look. It's such a shame that was Jenny's last episode, after getting the "cold shoulder" from Charlotte.

My vote is #3, no contest. The "relaxed perm" from "I.Q." It's not 1800s matronly, it's not light sockety. I think it's the most presentable perm from the perm parade.

I think that's also her most attractive look period. Instead of 1800s Victorian dowdiness, they actually managed to dress her in a modern blouse (gasp!). And the fact that she's showing a little neck must have been absolutely scandalous for those 1979 airwaves!

I guess Mr. Bradley didn't tell her to "put on a top button and button it!"

Thanks, it's been brewing around in my head for a few weeks, so it feels good to finally get it immortalized in cyberspace! I can now go to bed tonight knowing I have contributed something worthwhile to human society for the day!

And after all, it is an election year!

We're both in the same "perm party" for this poll! So far the runaway choice!

And the writers not helping Jenny's/Emily's case any. The first of many losses for the show.

It looks like Jenny won some wardrobe battles in her final episode. The scandalous neck reveal never would have flown in those first three episodes: her neck had to be covered, all the way up to her hair!

Yikes #2 is definitely the worst of them all, while #3 is the clear winner.

I'm so glad you created this poll. And since you have no qualms discussing characters' hair, and since you love Cindy, I've always wondered why you never participated in the Cindy Hair Poll.

This show would have been very different, if Jenny had stayed on. We might have had an eventual romance between Bradley and Mahoney. We could have established a female rapport between Charlotte and Jenny... or even other Eastland staff. Imagine, for example, conversations between Howard and Jenny over the dinner plans.

Or imagine a scene showing Miss Mahoney informing Molly and Margo that the Core Four are in huge trouble, and that they are not to hang out with the troublemakers. After all, we know someone told them about the incident: Margo makes it clear she knows about their crime and punishment deal, as she gloats and calls them the "four stooges". Heck, maybe we could have even had Sue Ann, Cindy, and Nancy in that scene as well, if Miss Mahoney told the students about the Core Four's punishment in a classroom.

All of the Above but I think all 3 perm hairstyles look quite the same in differ variations.

Let us not forget Miss Mahoney's spook-tacular hairdo in the infamous and rarely-broadcast "An Eastland Halloween" episode. Due to complaints from viewers, it's rarely shown these days, and doesn't appear in most of the DVD collections.
