Good find, but they don't seem to know anything outside of "I don't know" or "I'll have to ask around". Seems pointless to have made that if they don't know anything

That person seems to be legitimately related to the Wackers. They also said that the attacks abruptly stopped right around the time of the filming of the segment.

I remember this segment from when I was a kid. I felt so bad for them since I experienced crappy neighbors myself. Sometimes people do horribly mean things because they simply suck as humans. This happened before things like doorbell cams and whatnot were a thing too. So no one seeing anything doesn't surprise me. We had to use a video camera with mini VHS tapes as a security system when I was a kid as a deterrent from my mean neighbors.

Alot of people on Reddit think that they were victims. I have no problem believing they were victims, but my main problem is the duration in which the harassment continued and there seems to be no motive into doing it for a decade.

I would also think that if someone was doing it for that long that they would eventually found out who done it since they lived in such a small town

I’ve always wondered if the police were actually putting any time into this case. They probably did after the Wackers reported the assault by the guy who stopped to use the phone, but as time went by I doubt they were pursuing this case with any urgency, while publicly giving the standard lip service “the case is still open” and “if anyone knows anything let us know.”

Probably the bare minimum, they likely figured it was an inside job & were annoyed at having to waste time over a decade or so period, when their belief was it was at least one of them & one or more family members doing all this.

That place is full of people who don't think rationally. Seriously, if your house was being broken into multiple times would you as a woman let a random guy who just rolls up at your house with a bs story into your home & then turn your back on him? Surely even the most credulous person would have to ask why anybody would do this & then ask why all the guy supposedly did was loosely tie her up, gag her & leave, but the ropes & gag weren't tight enough to stop her crawling to an open window & being able to shout for help. A few items were stolen & then magically returned at later dates

So you have somebody happy to be seen by the person he is assaulting, she suffers no physical injuries or sexual assault, some items are taken & then returned with notes that have been written to disguise the handwriting, they change their phone number seven times-yet every time this person manages to obtain it. It cannot be anything other than somebody in the family & you have to believe that at least one of Bill & Dorothy were involved.

The attack in 1985 happened relatively early on in the period of harassment. It supposedly started the year before that. And up until that point there had only been a couple of ransackings, and this was after a six month break in it if I remember correctly. That coupled with the Wackers growing up in a time when people trusted a lot easier makes the details of it not as hard to believe as you are saying. After six months of quiet it isn't impossible Dorothy would have trusted someone enough to let them use the phone.

Your other points are interesting but aren't really enough to try and put this on the Wackers or dismiss it as a hoax. I'm not saying it couldn't have been, but adopting this blame the victim no matter what mentality is just annoying and serves no purpose.

Well, when your family is staked out infront of your house, and you're staked out inside and someone still manages to slip a note on your front porch then it becomes skeptical.

On a different note, I always thought the note "your lightz are a laugh" was odd. The spelling of "lightz" seem fake, like they wanted the perp to seem young or crazy.

I'll say that maybe the first attack was real, and the rest was made up to keep police attention on their property? Maybe Dorothy was frightened after the first attack and cried wolf to keep attention/police protection around their house?

I don't see this as a case of blame the victim at all, because the totality of their story makes no sense. I agree that this one piece doesn't prove anything, but when you look at everything together, it paints an illogical picture which then should make you question all of it.

When have you ever heard of a thief periodically returning stolen items to the scene of the crime? That alone should raise everyone's suspicions.

This is a very real possibility. It's the same theory that RobinW proposed about the Cindy James case: the early attack(s) was real, but then became staged as the victim wasn't believed or getting enough help.

There are a lot of harassment-type cases on UM that I could go either way on, but to me this is so illogical that the majority of this has to have been executed by one of more members of the Wacker family.
