Default Dan is a loser.

Seriously, this guy is a loser. He always depends on someone else to bail him out financially. Ugh.

It kind of reflects the real world. Sometimes you run into hardships, where you get behind in your bills. So I wouldn't call him a loser, he's just facing hard times as many Americans are doing at this point. Also look at how many of his kids and their families are staying with him. I'd be charging them some rent or kicking them out. They should be offering their help to bail him out.

Seriously. There are at least five adults in that household. They should be able to scrape together the cash to pay the mortgage, even if it's as little as $100 per adult.

3 adults: Dan, Darlene and Becky. D.J. doesn't live there, and neither does Ben.

Harris is over 18, and is working. Ben and Jackie are over there often enough that they practically live there, even if they don't sleep there all the time.
