Default Lisa and Charlotte briefly on "Sally Jesse Raphael"

Go to about the 8:13 mark to see them in their brief appearance here a few years after FOL:

I LOVE how Charlotte shut Sally down when she wanted dirt on the DS kids. What a gracious woman and it's said here that even in her book she didn't say anything negative about anyone and didn't reveal other people's secrets. I really love that about her and glad she pissed off Sally. You could tell she wasn't happy when Charlotte gave her zip!

I have to say 80's fashion was a lot better than some of the early 90's monstrosities. Lisa looks like she's on her way to perform in Circus of the Stars in that getup. I know it's a maternity outfit, but still. She looks ready to juggle some balls.

And that huge scrunchie in her hair!

Yup, and I love how Sally tried to interrupt her on her own show here but Charlotte wasn't having it! She had an answer, and by golly, she was gonna give it!!

(that emoji is labeled "singer" but it always looks to me like a ticked off little smiley really givin' it! lol!)

And it really was a wonderful response!

This is great! Short, but it helps fill things in during the gap when most of the cast wasn't doing FOL interviews. Thanks for sharing this, '80s!

It was cool to see Florence Henderson hug Lisa. I didn't expect that.

I also truly love what Lisa said about raising her kids: that the plan was for her to return to Hollywood, but she realized she needed to be there to make sure her kids got the right messages. If more parents did this (both mothers and fathers), our world would be a better place.

Yeah, I was glad Charlotte shut that down. This was supposed to be a FOL reunion, and then Sally seemed to blindside Charlotte with that question. It didn't feel right.

Yeah, that dress is something else!

Nearly every girl in my high school had variations on that hairdo, circa 1992. Complete with the scrunchy.

My pleasure! I love finding great FOL "nuggets" like this!

You didn't?? Yes, that was her way of saying, "Lisa, thank you so much for being so nice to Eve when she was on your show. I know it wasn't easy for her after all the bad press and negative fan mail for that episode!"

Hey everyone, it's "RetroSueAnnGuy2000"! (not laughing at your opinion, just the uncanny likeness of how that sounds like Sue Ann!)

I am not a conservative, but I think it's important that families be together and stay together, when possible. So, that part of me does have a very "Sue Ann" belief system. I do think we've gone astray here in the US when it comes to rearing children, and I'm glad that there are conservative voices (and were conservative voices in the 1990s) saying that we need to have more parental involvement.

When I look at the situation with Dana, her mom died and her dad wasn't in the picture anymore. And while that situation won't definitely cause what happened, in Dana's case, it's pretty obvious to me that that is what precipitated the chain of events that led to her troubles, and eventual death.

Interesting find! I enjoyed watching this for The Brady Bunch and The Facts of Life cast reunions.

It kinda pissed me off that Sally or her show producers didn't do their research about the show though.

You'd think they'd get the years that The Facts of Life run accurate. In the clip, Sally said it ran from 1980-1989

Then, she asks Charlotte Rae why the Diff'rent Strokes stars didn't get in trouble, and her response was spot-on. I'm glad she changed the subject because that question was just so awkward. She wasn't around when the DS kids started to get in trouble, so why the heck would she know? So what if the DS cast wasn't picture perfect? What was she trying to learn other than to stir the gossip pot, that a lot of these talk shows did in the early '90s?

Poor Lisa in that dress! I understand that she's in maternity clothes but she looks like she was draped in a shower curtain. Early '90s fashion and maternity wear in that era were awful.

Charlotte saw stuff in the beginning. Gary was a tyrant on the show. She said Dana was flighty. There is lots of theories why Dana Plato made only one appearance on the Facts of Life even though she was suppose to have gone to the school.

It's possible, but she could have been shielded away from it. We don't really have an interview where she commented on it, do we? I don't know enough to comment from her perspective other than we she told us in this interview. I haven't read her autobiography, if she ever mentioned it.

We knew Dana and Gary were having issues from the very beginning. With Dana, she was getting into drugs, lying, and had interests in older men. With Gary, he was having all of kinds of health issues, which affected his onset behavior.

It's hard to tell. Even if she knew, I don't really think Charlotte wanted to expose it. For her, it felt inappropriate.

It was obvious that DS didn't have a strong support system to deal with what was going off the set.

Charlotte does say something in her book about Dana being starved for male attention, and anytime men came onto the set, WHOOSH, there was Dana all over them.
