Default Is this the most popular board on SitcomsOnline.com

Is this the most active board on Sitcom.com? I've gone to the Happy Day's and All in the Family boards. Both shows were far more popular than FOL ever was, yet they still have posts from last year still on the first page?

Yes, this board is the most active, with the most threads, the most messages, and the most active members, although Unsolved Mysteries and One Day at a Time stay quite active, too.

Unsolved Mysteries still has unsolved cases, in fact a couple were solved last year. So I can see why it's still popular.

I am surprised One Day at a Time is still quite active considering no one on the show has had any recent projects. Lisa, Molly, and Kim have had recent projects so it keeps people interested in FOL.

Valerie Bertinelli has two hit shows on The Food Network (and one that didn’t do that great, but we won’t talk about that one).

Also, perhaps the new One Day at a Time has sparked interest in the original?

I would expect "The Golden Girls" to be the most active board here by far, so yes, I've always been surprised this sort of "sleeper show" has the most active board.

Yeah, I totally get the popularity of UM: the mystery of unsolved cases, the theories, the updates, and eventually the resolution of cases, decades after the original mystery. I've popped in a few times, when cases have been solved. I barely remember most of the mysteries, but it's still satisfying to see (for example) some creep busted for a murder he committed decades earlier.

As Otis says, Valerie is still active, so there's that. But also the Mackenzie "situation" creates a lot of fodder for discussion, whether it's the drug use or the incest revelations.

It's not just Lisa, Molly, and Kim who are active in the FOL-verse: Mindy, Nancy, Julie Pie, and (until her death) Charlotte have all done recent work. Several have written memoirs. Most (including Geri, Julie Anne, Julie Pie, Felice, and now even John, Mack, and Jenny) still do interviews about FOL. And the show is still airing, after 40+ years, which says a lot.

One day at a time stays pretty popular because of Opus and I, his love for Valerie and my love for Michael Lembeck !

Yes. It is! For a while One day at a time and Unsolved mysteries seemed to be in the lead , but lately Facts of life is the most popular kid in the school!

I agree this show is far more popular than The Facts of Life, but it's also very dated. I love Norman Lear shows, but he really dated his classics by the events that were going on in those times. I used Maude as an example with their gay bar episode in another thread. There's a scene where Walter orders orange juice and they get offended. I had no idea why until I looked it up because they didn't give an explanation in the episode. The Facts of Life didn't go that route with their episodes thankfully. The only dated aspect of The Facts of Life is their fashion styles, but their stories are something you can still watch to this day and understand.

I agree Maude is dated, but I wouldn't say AITF. The only thing that I find dated are the clothes that they wear, but we've seen variations of those styles worn on Gloria for example come and go in years since. Archie is always in his white collar shirt and Meathead is always in a button shirt too. So fashions for the most part are pretty much restrained and kept classic imo.

The house they live in is old, but that gives it it's charm for me. As far as the politics of the day. A lot of things they argue and debate about are eerily relevant in today's time. So I wouldn't call AITF dated too much. Especially nowhere near as dated as Maude.

Just all that gaudy interior decorating in the living room set is enough to leave the room screaming. And their bedroom! It looks like a blind person picked out those colors. Whenever i'd watch i'd be too distracted at the hideous set decorating to pay attention to the show.
