Default ELR inconsistencies

How about when Ray and Debra were going to get married (The flash back) and Debra introduces Ray to Father Hubley.
Meanwhile in another flashback, The mother and Father in law went to Debra's Apartment with Father Hubley, to stop them from having sex.
And the Mother in law introduces Father Hubley as there Family's priest.
And then when Ray and Jonoviny were delivering futons, Ray had that stupid looking little boys haircut, but later when Raymond was going to ask Debra to marry him, Rays hair was long.
And Robert, in the one flashback had the same hair he has today, but had a moustache, But in the one where Ray first met Debra, Robert had sort of long hair.
Then I think in one of them, Robert had an afro.

Then Amy's brother was always Peter, but there was that one episode where Ray went to "Amy's brothers comic book store" And it was a different guy.
He is never shown again, and never mentioned again.

Oh, and how about when Kevin James was in the show, one season, he was "Kevin" and worked with Ray,
and in the next season, he was "Doug" the IPS delivery guy. Remember he delivered a package to Rays house?

When Ray is shown asking Deborah to marry him, he asked her in his first write up for New York News Day, but in the episode named The Kicker, she tells him that she used to read his column a lot when they were dating.

God bless you always!!!

I just saw the one tonight where Marie caught Amy and Robert having sex in Rays basement, But then remember the one where Robert and Amy were married, and Marie said she liked Amy better than Debra, because Amy was "a good girl" (as in not had sex before marriage)

here is a picture from the one where Ray met Debra, and was telling Robert about how he thought Debra said "Come in" and Ray saw her naked.
Looks at Roberts hair, and he was supposed to be a cop.
This is the one where ray has the stupid looking little boys haircut.

As Archie Bunker would say, Robert was one of them Mod Squads.

Jon Manfrellotti, who plays Gianni was first seen as a Disc Satellite Technician who busts Frank for theft of service.

Amy's brother was first on the show when Ray went searching to find a replacement Hakidu card for Ally. Her brother ran a comic book store, and he was named Russell in that appearance.

Probably sometime in the next season, her brother was played by a different actor, and was renamed Peter. At some point they decided to make him a recurring character. I think his first appearance was in the episode where Robert went to Hank and Pat's (Amy's parents) house in Pennsylvania, to ask their permission for him to marry Amy (they said no). Raymond made references to having met Peter before in his comic book store, so we know it's supposed to be the same brother. Why they changed his name is anybody's guess.

Absolutely right about Father Hubley. The different haircuts aren't odd because most people don't live their entire lives with the same hairstyle. What does seem strange to me is that Ray and Debra look, sound, and act younger in the first-time sex episode than they do in the episode where they first meet.

Actually I'm curious about Ray and Debra's entire timeline as a couple. How old were they when they met, and when they married? Ray doesn't propose until he becomes a sports columnist, but he was still a futon guy when they met. You'd think it would take many years as a beat writer or whatever before Ray could ascend to the columnist position.

I've also read people complain about Ray and Robert's relative incomes, and that Ray wouldn't be able to afford his house on one income. I think it could be explained away due to Debra having rich parents, but it was never addressed on the show.

I was rewatching the episode where Robert meets Amy, and Ray says that Robert's ex-wife left him for a guy that Robert arrested. That story doesn't square with the flashback to Robert's divorce, because Joanne just dumps him without any other guy's involvement.

That Joanne, she was a real lizard! Loved how Marie threw her out. “....and now it’s time to take out the trash.” LMAO

I haven’t watched the show as closely as you(although I do LOVE it) But I remember the guy who played ”Gianni” being a Cable TV repairman before actually becoming Gianni

Tossing Joanne out was funny, yet Robert still considered going back to that witch...

Another inconsistency would be Marie shaming Lois and Warren about their amicable divorce, but not insisting Robert stick to his (first) vows. However, Marie didn't have a problem with accepting Robert as a homosexual (LOL), so I guess she didn't always follow the Pope's teachings...

There's another strange thing about Gianni - I don't think he appeared in Raymond and Debra's wedding flashback episode, even though in the next season's flashback, Gianni helped get Ray and Deb together when they met. Instead, one of Ray's groomsmen is a guy named Duddie, who had a speaking part there but doesn't seem to appear in any other episode.

Actually I do have trouble remembering some of the shows from the first and last two seasons, especially since ELR doesn't show up on syndication where I live anymore. I like to watch some of my favorite episodes online, and I've seen most of the lengthy ELR-related videos conducted at interviews.televisionacademy.com. (Most of cast and some of the writers and directors were interviewed there.)

In trying to figure out the timelines for the main characters, I've noticed a few age-related issues.

The season 2 episode The Gift revolved around what Ray and Robert were getting for Frank's 65th birthday. But in Debra Makes Something Good in season 4, while complaining that Marie doesn't make braciole for him anymore, Frank says that he's 64.

Also, in Ray's high school reunion episode in season 2, Debra says that her 20-year reunion is coming up in 4 years. Combining that with the season 4 episode in which the twins have to repeat preschool (and we learn that Ray was left back as well), that means Ray is about five years older than Debra. In Young Girl in season 5, we find out that Robert is 43 and his young girlfriend is 19. Debra asks Robert, "Men have to date women 20 years younger than they are? If Ray dies tomorrow, I have to date 60-year-olds?" If Robert is 43 and Ray is the younger brother, Debra is no older than 37 then (based on the 5-year age difference with Ray), but that statement makes her out to be 40.
