Default Does Anyone Else Hate Antenna TV's New Binge-Watching Weekends?

They are probably trying to compete with streaming services. The difference is, on streaming services, I can pick the show I want to binge watch. On Antenna TV, they just shove a show down your throat. Today was "Head of the Class". I HATE "Head of the Class" (no offense to fans), so they just lost me all day. It's a good time to show off the variety of shows they have as people are stuck at home, but to just run one show all day long....

Binge watching episodes of the same TV show seems to be a trendy thing so that might be why Antenna TV is doing these marathons. I have DVD's of most of my favorite shows so I don't watch the retro channels too much anymore.

I don't get Antenna TV anymore, but an entire weekend of the same show is stupid. The only channel that doesn't do marathons now is MeTV, but I don't get that one anymore either.

These marathons are 50/50 if you like the show the binge weekends are good if you don’t like the show the binge is bad.

Personally there are 2 choices I would of done. One is air marathons of the older shows cause people are looking for an escape or second leave the schedule as the Regular line up when I lost my job and I worked second shift the one plus I thought I was excited to be home Saturday nights to watch Mchale’s Navy, Hazel, I Dream Of Jeannie, Bewitched, That Girl, The Paul Lynde Show, Lotsa Luck, Burns and Allen, Jack Benny, Joey Bishop, Dennis the Menace.

Than the binge Marathons came and I thought okay they probably will air the ones from 50’s, 60’s, 70’s. Than I realized it was going to be more 80’s,90’s stuff I was disappointed but than I heard they were going to change Johnny Carson’s time slot and I was like awesome maybe they will air some of those 50’s,60’s,70’s programming during the evening & late night no it was more 80’s and 90’s programming.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong with 80’s,90’s programming I’m just looking for an escape and I thought 50’s,60’s,70’s is the way to go. Anyways I will watch The Partridge Family & Three’s Company Weekend. Binge Weekend is more of preference, I would of also liked what NICK at NITE did and have a Classic TV Countdown Marathon of a different show every half hour but since there are other retro tv stations it’s hard to get rights to different stuff.

As I always say there is always next schedule change.

Yeah, exactly ! If you like the show it's cool, if you don't like the show it's not! Like last weekend I liked Alice and Archie Bunker's place but I'm not diggin' Head of the class today ! What are they showing tomorrow ?

This weekend's selection of binge marathons has been excellent. I saw all 19 episodes of Head of the Class selected from the Howard Hesseman seasons yesterday. And I am on episode 8 of the Welcome Back, Kotter marathon today. Last weekend didn't interest me at all with Alice and Archie Bunker's Place. Two weeks ago I saw a lot of Murphy Brown but wasn't interested in NewsRadio. A week from today I am really looking forward to the Wings marathon. Three's Company and Becker don't appeal to me, but Coach, Family Ties, and The Facts of Life are great marathon choices.

That's the point, if you like the show - it's great. If you hate the show - they lose a viewer for the entire weekend. I don't like Head of the Class or Kotter so I'm out for the weekend.

I just wish they'd run the regular schedule.

It's a Living, which was also Crystal Bernard's show before Wings

I don’t. If I don’t care for the show being marathoned, I just skip watching Antenna. For me, Antenna’s flaws are minor, as it’s a FREE station. If you want perfection, pay for a premium channel, and even then, you will still encounter drawbacks.

Yeah, I agree! And if Antenna is playing something I don't like all day or all weekend even, I'll just watch METV, COZI, IDTV ,HGTV , REELZ or other stations I regularly watch or pop in a DVD ! It's no biggie if I don't watch Antenna!
