Default The Grand Opening

The first stinker of season 7

I just don't understand WHY any of these women think filling the store with all that ugly trash is a good idea. Jo with that butt ugly fish pen and being fascinated with it. That's so not Jo. No way...she would be making fun of that crap.

I can see Natalie loving it to go with her lightning bolt hat for studying LOL.

There were a couple of funny moments here though--

Blair's "I don't understand" when the woman offered $2 bucks for the shirt and then said she was "bargaining"....Her reply back with "I don't do that" with a smile on her face was so Blair. Loved it.

Tootie to the old man who kept returning the doll "Are you using this doll for purposes it wasn't intended?" made me LOL. And when Natalie did her special test on it. Ha!!

So Edna was telling the realtor "No Sale". Ok---so her son HAD to have either sold the store to her or given it to her and she now solely owns that property. It's the only thing that makes this sensible. So i'm just gonna go with the son transferring the title over to her at some point in the past, and now the 5 of them are on the title with the new store.

I already miss Edna's Edibles

The later seasons definitely went downhill fast.

Season 7 is with Tootie a senior at Eastland right? I'm thinking now, that this should've been set up as the final season. Have Tootie graduate, Mrs. G find love and marry, and everyone go their separate ways. And no Beverly needing to come.

At this point they're all adults now, and watching it quickly in syndication is startling to see just how fast they all grow up. And since Charlotte Rae definitely wanted out at this point, they should've folded up the tent when she left, since it was her show after all.

I didn’t like this one either. So they decide in the middle of their grand opening to go out of business? And then change their minds and stay open? And they probably lost their shirts letting all that newly-purchased merchandise sell for below cost. It doesn’t make a lick of sense.

The gift shop, honestly, doesn’t make much sense, especially when Edna disappears in the middle of this season. Do the girls really have time to run the shop with all their school responsibilities/activities?

She goes away AGAIN this season? Oh no. I thought that was only for season 6 she wanted reduced episodes.

You make a good point about their responsibilities. Look at how busy Jo is with school and she's taking up partnership here? Nat wants to go off and see the world, and is now stuck in Peekskill as another partner when she should be off doing what she wants.

Tootie is in her senior year and should be focusing on that.

Blair seems to have all the time in the world though. I don't see her too focused on her schooling except for which guys in her classes to date, and her Bloomingdale jaunts down to the city.

Mrs. G should be catering which was her passion. Not selling a plate of chocolate chip cookies shoved in the corner of the store. It's actually kind of sad.

Hey cfr1970!

I'm certainly glad and eager to read your email on each episode you watch every day!

BLAIR is certainly no fool, and the only one who knows how to play her cards: she just knows how to enjoy life! (don't you just love her)

And yes, MRS G is definitely a big disappointment so far i can witness from season 7 (which comes as no surprise from what i watched on YouTube 1o years ago). She turned into a 'STEPFORD WIFE'!

And NAT and JO just victims of 'Over our head'....

Charlotte Rae was absent for seven episodes in season 7. In two others, she only has a brief cameo.

Thank you valentina. I enjoy critiquing the episodes each day. They'll eventually stop when it all cycles back again, but for now i'm really having fun with it!

Blair is great, and her hair didn't bug me in this episode!

She's the only one out of the 4 that has the time to run this junk store. Except for Mrs. G of course who's shoved in the corner with her old burned "Edna's Edibles" sign and a plate of cookies wishing she had her gourmet store back.

Nat and Jo are victims of this nutty idea. Poor Nat wants to see Europe so bad and is now stuck in Peekskill, and Jo has all her courses, the radio station, student council, making mascot heads and pizza to worry about selling ugly fish pens.

Tootie is acting like a child wanting everyone to stay together, but I get that she's the baby and it must be hard seeing all her friends become adults now.

Charlotte Rae kept the old burnt Edna's Edibles sign. It was featured in the FOL Colector's Call in February.

No, it does not. They're starting their opening week not only in the hole because of all of the inventory, but now all the inventory they sold at below cost.

No. No, they do not. Which is why, I suspect, they quickly drifted away from OOH as well, and closed the shop two years later. Beverly Ann says it herself: no-one's even watching the shop by then.

Yeah 7 was bad, s8 was the best of the OOH years for sure.

I love that she kept that!

I see this Collector's Call show is on ME-TV and I can't get that channel.

I wish they were like Buzzr and streamed their shows too. I want to see this!

But thy did not. So instead we get Beverly Ann, Pimppa, Over Our Heads, and George Clooney. ...Also, Bull from Night Court.

"Pimppa"

I saw Bull from Night Court in the episode guide on Wikipedia and can't wait to see that one. How on earth the whole group winds up in Malibu and then arrested by Richard Moll sure has my curiosity piqued!!

For this though....I DON'T want to be spoiled!!

It looks like too much fun seeing it all unfold while watching it!
