Default Alice Antenna TV Episode Discussion Thread-4/4/20

Well just started watching and its the episode when the food critic dies from eating Mel's Jail House Chili.

By the way, Why would a food critic be going to eat at a truck stop diner??

Yeah, I never understood that about why a fancy food critic would be spending time at a truck stop diner. That food critic guy seemed too fancy and he was all the time going on about Peking Duck. I'm surprised he wasn't visiting snobby French restaurants.

Yes didnt make a lot of sense at all. Wearing a suit and asking for chili

Also how would tommy be able to get to the diner by himself? I always had this image of the diner being located on a big wide road

Yeah, they've said the diner is located on "Bush Highway" so I would imagine that's a busy area. I hope Tommy wasn't going there on his skate board.

Maybe ride his bike or took the bus ? Back in the 70 's kids got around on their own without parents driving them , safer times. There were child molesters and kidnappers back than but it wasn't really that common or known about yet !

Yep, that's why they bought Mel's car in the "Car Wars" episode. They were tired of taking the bus.

Yes, many times. Tommy's father, Don Hyatt was killed in an auto accident.

Yeah probably Flo took the bus too! Phoenix is a city, like a medium sized city, not a NY, Philly or LA , so they had bus service but I'm sure no trains, like subways or El's or anything like that !

Seemed Mel's was kind of on the edge of town , kind of the outskirts of Phoenix , but I guess a bus line still went there ? Probably one of those that runs on the hour, if you miss it you are screwed and would be really late !

The episode on now is when Mel hires a waiter and pays him more and justified his reason why. It was because most men had families to take care of and needed to be paid more. Alice on the otherhand was only taking care of Tommy and was a 2 household family
